Thanks panda! I’ll update next week when I get results.... went to perinatal and babies doing great ? thank goodness! I asked how much weight i should gain today and doctor said for twins and my starting BMI (29/30) I should gain 25-40 lbs total... I’m up about 19lbs and 29.5 weeks so she said I’m doing great ?

? all will be good ?

I asked about how much weight to put on and not one doctor would give me an answer (RE, MFM, Gynae). They just said eat balanced.

First trimester I lost weight then was back to 0 at 16 weeks. Within the last 4 weeks I’ve put on 3.4kg and I eat way less ??? so I’m scared of getting huge ? since it’s been a fast gain now.

I think with the risk of GD the issue is processed carb control and not really about how much weight you put on

I just took the 3 hour one today... the drink wasn’t so bad... the 4 blood draws were not fun! Wish me luck ladies! Definitely don’t need any more high risk pregnancy categories to check off :/

Thank goodness although I’m textbook high risk in a bunch of categories, everything is going well. Doctor today even told me I should gain more weight which makes no sense with the failing 1 hour test ? Doesn’t diabetes cause extra weight gain? I hope I pass the 3 hour!!!

I just passed my glucose test this pregnancy. However, with my daughter, I had failed the one hour then passed the 3 hour. Don't remember what my numbers were but my friend who is a doc had told me it was probably because I had too many sweets the night before my first glucose test that I failed it. The second time (and the time for this pregnancy) I avoided sweets for 2 days before the test and passed no problem.

I’m in South Africa.

Usually urine is checked at every appt with any gynae but it just seems that the RE bad MFM don’t bother.

I know they warn about preeclampsia and gestational diabetes so BP is always checked but I am yet to hear about the glucose tests here. I thought maybe they look for a symptom and then do the test. But it might still be coming up I guess.

Barely failed. My levels aren't really controlled with meds either. But I have 0 options on a second opinion. Baby is due any day now and I'm just hoping she stays perfect as she's been fine in my weekly nst tests Tuesday and my weekly ultrasound on fridays.

@panda what country are you in? In the USA seems to be standard testing. @run the shots are better than the consequences so keep it up!!! What were your numbers when you failed?

I failed. More shots ?

They aren't so bad.

Is it standard to do the glucose tests or so they look for any symptoms of gestational diabetes and then decide when to test? And when do they do them?

I only have scans every 4 weeks and I only had my urine checked at 16 weeks. My RE and MFM never checked urine or anything else. My RE told me just plain folic acid is fine since the food we eat is so fortified but my new gynae says I need a preggy prenatal ? annoying when everyone’s opinion is different.

Mine was sent to quest and their cutoff is 135... I also read online that cutoff was 140??? my doctor called me about an hour ago and explained that if I had one baby he would have left it alone but since it’s twins the risks are higher and it’s better to do the 3 hour. He scared me and explained diabetes can cause still birth ? I’m going to do the 3 hour but it’s a pain . I feel like I’m always at the doctor. Seriously I’ve had a doctor appointment at least once a week (with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 weeks ) the ENTIRE pregnancy. ? it’s starting to get to me

I thought that 140 was the cut off? I am 158 and will be doing 3h after we come back from vacation.
