To Doula or Not to Doula??
First time mom expecting di/di twins and hoping for a natural delivery in hospital setting.... spoke to a wonderful doula with twins experience yesterday... very pricey! $1200 ?. But she's the only one that I spoke to that actually knows her stuff in particular about twins natural delivery! On one hand I could definitely use the support , on the other, if I Book her and I end up with a c-section it's $$ down the drain... she did say she would charge only the $600 deposit in that case and would support me post delivery/ c-section .... maybe I shouldn't even put the c-section thoughts out there??? HELP! To Doula or not to Doula??
Wow! Why are you bedridden once the water breaks??? Have you decided what/how you want to give birth? I'm going to have IV and epidural ports installed at some point in hospital and have to give birth in OR but going to try to do it without any medication ....i don't want to be bedridden which is why I don't want epidural.
Well that’s good your ob and her need to have open communication and then working together previously is great. And yes omg when she told me the price I jumped on it. She usually charges more but she is doing it more of to experience it as well as help me. She went to one of my ob appt and my ob told her I’m all hers till my water breaks she can do with me what she wants ball walking hanging from a chandelier what ever it takes but as soon as my water breaks I’m bed ridden
I live in south Florida and it did seem
Expensive but so is everything in this area... we are meeting with her in person next week and will take it from there. She said she will let us do payment plan...When I told DH how much, his response was " she has to deal with you before, during, and after the birth???.... it's not enough $$$" LOL ... it's still a lot but if it's helpful I will go ahead with payment plan. How did she help with a c-section?
Doulas are very helpful even in the case of c-sections. Especially when you are very much wanting a vaginal birth. I don't know where you're from but holy man! That is a LOT of money. In my area the most doulas charge is 675. I'm personally having one (mono/di boys) because of the calming effect my first had with me. I had a home water birth with my daughter and as soon as my doula got there I knew I could do it. And I did!
Definitely ask... it has to do with how comfortable your doctor is with the situation, you can always deny stuff, but it makes it tougher in case of emergency. Dr told me he is comfortable delivering without medication but if there is any complication, I would need to be put to sleep for c section so just in case to have the ports . Although I'm scared about that part... i am more scared of having to be put under total anesthesia and wake up hours later :/
