Integrated Blood Test for twins?

Integrated Blood Test for twins?

Did any of you guys do this test where they draw blood at 12 weeks and then again at 16 weeks? Doctor told me to do it but then told me it's not accurate for twins so I got upset with her and asked what Bete would recommend a test that wouldn't be relevant and cause me stress of something came out abnormal... I only took first party, should I bother with pet two?

I haven't heard of this before. What is it testing for?

Supposedly spine bifeda and also it can predict how well your placenta will function in later pregnancy.... I'm not too convinced it's worth taking it . I'm worried bc if twins it will be off and then I'll be freaking out over funky results for now reason

I did the test and my AFP (some kind of protein) came back high at 16 weeks which can indicate spina bifida. Luckily, I had already had my anatomy scan by the time I got the blood results and they said they looked closely at my scan for signs of spina bifida because of the elevated protein and everything looked okay. I googled it and multiple pregnancy can cause the elevated reading.

I'm now 33 weeks so I haven't actually had my twins yet, and spina bifida has been in the back of my mind this whole time even though my doctor is not worried. I don't know if doing the test was really worth it.

My doctor won't do this test with multiples, it gives a false positive or a higher percentage of the possibility.

I'm thinking I won't take the 2nd part of the test to avoid the stress of a false positive... it wouldn't change anything and I would still have my babies so I'd rather not stress... I talk to them every day and they know they will be 100% healthy and head down and make it to full term!!! They agreed ;) ❤️ ❤️

I ended up taking the 2nd part... waste of time, but everything came out ok ?

I was also offered the test but then the genetic counselor said it wasn't accurate for multiples. The brochure they gave me also said the same thing. And when I called my insurance to see if it was covered, my insurance policy said the same thing. So I didn't see the point of having a test done that wasn't considered accurate for multiples.

Fast forward to a few weeks later and I have an ultrasound done and perinatologist takes a look and comes to talk to me. He says babies are too big for ultrasound for the nuchal translucency scan but I should consider doing the blood tests. I tell him that I was told that it wasn't accurate for multiples but he disagrees.

So I can understand some of your frustration.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

The ultrasound tech told me my baby is showing hints as to the baby might having down syndrome. (even though the down syndrome blood test and chromosome 18 blood test came back negative) they said sometimes they can be inaccurate and gave me an option of to not do anything at all, to do additional blood work which is only gonna be 80% accurate or I can do an amniocentesis test which puts the baby at a very low risk of miscarriage but is 100% accurate. they said the baby showing a cyst on the brain, 2 black spots on the brain, a bright spot on the baby's heart, and the baby's nose bone is super short. and they said those are hints as to the baby having it. anyone go through this??? message me please. I've had a miscarriage prior to having my son which showed sets of 3 chromosomes after the fact.. I wanted to do the 3rd option with the amniocentesis test but I just don't know.
