What will my doctor do if I tell her I’m depressed and I can’t handle the pain anymore because I’m very uncomfortable at this point and I don’t know how much longer I can be like this.
@nandf, my son was born at 35 weeks and didn’t need any nicu assistants and my daughter was born at 36 weeks via emergency c-section and needed to be in the nicu. I’m very familiar with the risk of having a premature baby.
@kbh18, my son was born at 35 weeks and didn’t need to be transferred to the nicu he stayed with me. I’m very familiar with all of this I’ve had 2 preemie babies before and I know the risk. Thank you for giving me some positivity
@nandf, Ok. Well I was just sharing my personal experience with a preemie. Was trying to shed light on the subject and give her some positive thoughts. Some babies are fine enough to go home with the mom. I repeat some.
@sheriffwoody, yes but I was reading the side effects so I stopped them. I will not have my baby have brain damage or have him die. I read it’s very bad for premature labor and they shouldn’t constantly keep giving it to you if it’s not working. I believe that’s why my son isn’t active.
Have they given you Terbutaline to try to stop/slow down the contractions?
I had my son at 36 weeks, we were both discharged 3 days later
@juliam27 damn any other hospital nearby?
@leroydoom, we don’t have the money to drive all the way to Odessa it’s about a 2 hour drive from my town
@juliam27, they cannot tell you that. They cannot even tell you a 37 weekers lungs would be ok. Shit they can’t even tell you a term baby’s lungs are ok. It’s all guess work. They don’t have a NICU and the odds of a 35 weeker needing at least a NICU eval are high. Let them send you home, and then go straight to the other hospital.
Regarding your comment to @laniejay, I would just like to say that there is never any certainty to how well developed your baby’s lungs can be. I had my son at 37 weeks which some people still consider “full term” and there was never any certainty on how he was going to be.
@juliam27 I'd go ahead and let them discharge you, then go to Odessa (which I'm assuming is another hospital) like @ricky-bobby said
@ricky-bobby, they didn’t say but I don’t think they want to transfer me I think they just want to send me home already and not deal with me
@laniejay, my son is 2 weeks ahead and the radiologist even told me his lungs are perfect and he’d be okay if he was born right now.
@leroydoom, me too 3 almost 4 weeks is too long
@techie_grrl, that’s what my family and my friend said
@juliam27, i would demand it. Enough is enough from them. They can’t even handle your baby if he is born.
@juliam27 I didn't realize you're having contractions, I hope the doctor decides to move forward
@juliam27 if you don't hear back from your doctor though, you need to take it up to the next level. There's no reason to suffer as much as you have.
@leroydoom, I talked to my nurse and she said it’s normal because I’m going through a lot but idk if she will talk to my doctor
@techie_grrl, I talked to my nurse and all she said was it’s normal for me to feel like this because I’m going through a lot. Idk if she’s going to talk to my doctor or not
@ricky-bobby, they don’t want to transfer me unless I’m making cervical change and I already talked to my nurse but idk what she will talk to my doctors or not
@laniejay, no I’m at 1.5 right now and they won’t transfer me if I’m not making cervical change
@juliam27 if that doesn't get results, buzz your nurse and tell her you want to speak with the director and/or patient advocate. I had to do that when my son was in the NICU because I had a safety concern with one of the nurses.
@techie_grrl, I just talked to my nurse and she’s going to talk to my doctor
@britt., I’ve been having contractions for 3 weeks going on 4 and nothing they have done will stop them
I'm sure she would try to be understanding but would urge you to try to be patient for a few more weeks. She might offer you an anti depressant (if your depression is unmanageable otherwise) alternative depending on her stance on them during pregnancy but I don't imagine she'd be on board to induce early. But you never know. Just be prepared for disappointment in case, sorry girl 😞
Given your circumstances, it is understandable to feel the way you do. Have an open and honest discussion with her about this.
What kind of pain?? Abnormal pain? What do you mean?
