Ladies who have already started their LO on solids..can you give me an example of a feeding schedule with milk and solids? I’m not really sure where to start
Give carrots for a few days before trying something else.
Avoid honey until after 1. All other allergens are okay to try my kids dr says the earlier the better as far as peanuts and berries and shellfish etc... he said there was some evidence that waiting to introduce allergens may have been what caused so many children to be allergic to things other kids weren’t in previous generations. Like I was born in the 80s and growing up I was the only person I knew with a food allergy and that was shellfish which I wasn’t exposed to until I was like 8-9 yrs old. Now food allergies are out of control but parents were told to hold off on introducing those foods
@jtaylorg, I would feed the same food for a few days then do something new. Make sure to know the signs for an allergic reaction. Most fruits & veggies are low allergen foods, but later on when you introduce other stuff it’ll be good to know.
@jtaylorg, I just made sure to give her the bottle first, since its their main form of nutrition.
@thatbeachyblonde, I should have clarified! No worries
@iwannaplay, ok! So I gave her carrots today and she loved them. She ate half the 2oz container. She would have kept going If I let her but i was afraid just in case. So tomorrow I should do carrots again? Or should I wait a few days for anything?
@jtaylorg, Oh ok! I wasn’t sure what you meant by milk, lol. My apologies.
Only give one food at a time so if something happens you know what caused it. And most allergic reactions don’t happen on the first exposure but will happen after the 2nd+
@thatbeachyblonde, ohh! I meant milk as in breast milk or formula. Definitely not regular milk! Sorry for that mix up
Always offer breast milk or formula first. For the first while baby may only eat a bite or 2 and that’s okay food at this point is more for learning than nutrition. I gave bites to my kids when I would eat a meal they’d get a bit too most of what they got was wasted in the process but it’s all a learning process
I’d wait until 1 for milk. When we started solids at 6 months I did oatmeal once a day in the morning, and a veggie for “dinner” at night. I always gave her the bottle before any foods though.
I would just offer solids once a day when we started at 6 months— I did lunch time so I could monitor for any reactions all afternoon. I would breastfeed him like normal and then a little bit later (30-45 minutes) would offer him a few tablespoons of a food. I would wait 3 days before introducing a new food since it can sometimes take a bit for reactions to occur. At 6m we just did a few tastes a day & then gradually increased as he got older.
I see slot of parents starting to give solid food to babies @ 4 months, but the doctor told me @6 months to start giving solid -_-
When is a good time to start solids?
Mommas! What foods did you guys start introducing as solids? Fruits or veggies?
When did you start your little ones on solids and what did you start off with?
??
How you do ladies feel about a 3 month old starting to eat solids already?
Me to!
