Wondering when I should take my maternity leave? I work full time still as a phlebotomist. Work is getting a lot harder to do. I am worried about finances if I go to early. How soon did you mommas take your leave?

Yeah my job held my position too, I work at a day care in the toddler room and chasing those monsters was rough being on my feet and having to pick them up to change them and stuff it but it was worth it

@bmcneese51, the nice thing is that my work is willing to hold my job for me until the end of October beginning of November. I am trying to hold out but it’s getting really hard.

I worked until 39 weeks, I worked Friday and got induced Monday. So try to stick it out as much as you can cause I had a whole 2 months with my baby girl and I wouldn't trade it for anything the pain is worth it when you can have all that time with him/her

@aileen_west, thanks. It’s getting lots harder to make it through the day and even to drive to work. I also have fibromyalgia and it isn’t helping either.

@prettyflower1033, it was 10 weeks and it’s good. Depending on the company and where you work.

I worked until the day I had her. I couldn’t afford to go out early although I wish I could have. My whole body was swollen and literally no one at work ever helped me do things I shouldn’t be doing or had a hard time doing. (Climbing ladders, lifting heavy boxes, etc) I was so thankful when I finally went into labor.

My sister worked until 38 weeks. She was sooo swollen and in pain, but they couldn't afford for her to go out any earlier.

My friend when out at 4 months. Her doctor told her she could only work 20 hours or less a week, and as she was the store manager that wouldn't fly, so she went on disability and then maternity.

@gypsymomma, Elementary school teacher. I’m on my feet all day. It was exhausting, but I wanted to have as much time as possible at home with my son when he was born.

I have no sick time left. I had to use it for when I was sick a couple weeks ago. If I go out at the end of the month that will put me about one week before 36 weeks.

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

Paternity leave How much time did your S/O take off of work when you had a baby? Luckily I live in California so we have 6 weeks paid paternity leave (55%), but my S/O is getting s*** at work for taking 4 weeks. It's honestly infuriating that people are asking why he needs so much time off and "he's not going to be taking care of the baby the whole time". Umm it's called BONDING LEAVE. It's such bull s*** how people expect dad's to take way less time off as if it's not their kid too. Dad's deserve time off with their new babies too. Just had to rant about this ?
