So I’m almost 38weeks. I’m getting really nervous. I watched videos of getting an epidural and can’t imagine that huge…

Honestly when i decided to get the epidural i didnt even feel the needle and he was nice enough to not even show me how long the needle was. I was in so much pain from the contraction that i just wanted relief

I’m usually pretty good with pain, I think I messed up watching the videos, it wasn’t the epidural needle that hurt it was the numbing needle, it made one woman cry!

If youre having contractions, from what ive heard the pain is so severe the epidural will be a piece of cake... i never felt my contractions. Ive had two spinals. First one incredible felt nothing at all, second time he poked my nerve with the numbing shot and the spinal was uncomfortable (felt pressure) but its not the end of the world 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was planning to go all natural, but I was not dilating so they had to put me on high levels of Pitocin. Then my water broke and my contractions were just so strong for a very long time, I had to ask for an epidural. Since I wasn’t planning on it, I didn’t research it nor saw what it looked like.. I actually still don’t know how big or long the needle is! I just asked for it and they put it in, and the relief from it was all I needed to be okay with getting the epidural. I think when you’re in that state, it won’t get to you.. if it still does, just focus on the relief you’re going to be getting! Honestly, the only thing you really have to do when getting the epi is relaxing your body..

I was the exact same way but trust me it doesn't hurt at all once you've felt contractions

@mommy.to.sterling when I was told its time for the baby i really didnt even worry anymore. The excitement of seeing my baby kinda tuned out the anxiety of the spinal 😊

Its like a 4 inch needle! If not longer! ☹️. I also heard it makes your back hurt really bad a few days after as well,... I was planning on getting it at first, it sounds like I’m gonna have to deal with it, lol 😬.

@suz., that’s what happened to my sister, she said she was more scared of the needle at first but once it started working it was relief.

@mommy.to.sterling i was 5.5cm dilated before the first csection and felt nothing. I swore their machine was broken and no contractions were happening. I was scared that I didnt feel contractions and therefore would feel the spinal pain. The anesthesiologist guy was amazing though, he was SO funny and SO good. Second time it was a different guy and he stressed me out 😖 i dont wanna relive that experience again, hubby was cringing when I told him.
