Do you have to feed newborns the recommended every 2 to 3 hours or can it be whenever baby shows their hungry?? Cuz we’re still in the hospital and they want every 2 to 3 hours but my daughter hasn’t been doing that. Only when she wants and it makes me feel like she’s no eating right and I’m feeling bad about it. I’m scared she won’t be eating enough
i felt the same way when i was still in the hospital! when she wouldn’t take the boob they had me pump and they used a syringe and she gave it to her that way. don’t stress momma the nurses are there to guide you with feeding and alll that while you and baby are adapting to everything! if you feel like she isn’t getting enough talk to your nurse and she’ll assure you and also keep an eye on it, at least that’s what mine did. once you get the hang of it you’ll know your baby and feel MUCH BETTER.
Your baby's stomach is still TINY she doesn't need very much at all. It's the size of a Walnut at 3 days old, so it's okay that she isn't eating much. She will gradually pick it up, there's no need to force it unless she's going several hours without anything. Ask your nurse to confirm, but this sounds pretty normal to me.
You need to get a liquid syringe and force a couple ounces into her then. Newborns have to learn the bottle just like they would the breast. Meanwhile just get some milk into her.
Get someone knowledgeable to show you how to syringe feed if you don't know how.
Idk what to do because she hasn’t eaten since 7:30 pm and she’s refusing to take the bottle
@triciaa_mariee, @techie_grrl, Thank you. I’ve been super worried about it. I feel better
