Pedyalite for a week old???
I called the advice nurse due to baby throwing up after feedings and she told me to go ahead and give her pedyalite if she throws up more. I’ve never heard of this before and I’m kind of scared to give it to her. Have any of you mammas done this before?

Is it like legit puking or just spit up? Also I had to give JJ Pedialyte at 2.5 weeks old, make sure it's the unflavored one. The flavored ones have way to much sugar in them for newborns.

@bsandra then you can try a little Pedialyte at next feeding.

I deff wouldn’t give that to a one week old... they aren’t even supposed to have water...

That’s not that uncommon for a baby to do. Mine son would projectile vomite almost a whole bottle at a time (after I switched to formula and bottles so he wasn’t as young) and he never had any problems more than that. Idk because every baby is different, but I personally wouldn’t give my baby pedialyte at that young of an age.

Never pedialite. Breastmilk or formula only. I was told when babies are sick breastmilk is best. Idk about formula.

I was given the go ahead on plain, non-flavored pedialyte at one month old for my son because he was really dehydrated due to having the flu

I am exclusively breastfeeding her. Ik that every baby is different but I never had this happened before. I didn’t even give water to my babies till they were older so even thinking about giving her pedyalite freaks me out. Plus... her belly has been growling a lot. Yesterday my husband thought she was farting and when I held her, her belly was growling.

How long has she been throwing up? If it’s enough to make her dehydrated she needs to go to the hospital NOT pedialyte. She is way too young for you to handle dehydration at home.

She was fed around 2pm and she threw up everything.... fed her a lil more so she went to sleep. I did two more feedings and everything seem normal around 8pm I did a third feeding and she again threw up everything. That’s why I called the advise nurse, so she said cause she threw up in between feedings, it was probably a virus and if threw up more to give her pedyalite and to feed her small amounts or to give them a call back. I just fed her a lil more but I’m just gonna take her to the ER if she throws up one more time. I honestly don’t feel safe/comfortable giving her pedyalite.
