One thing I dont understand is if i rock him to sleep in my arms and put him down hell wake up 5-10 minutes later, why would he appear settled but then wake up?..you think he would just wake up as soon as I put him down then if he is not settled no?? Maybe someone has some insight?
Babies sleep very lightly during the day. If he falls asleep in your arms and you set him down, he will notice when the warmth of your arms goes away and he will wake up confused - "hey I was just in my mom's arms? Where am I now?!" The books I read suggest that you put him down in his crib when he is just about to fall asleep, then continue to keep a hand on him and sushing or singing or whatever you do. Then wait 20 minutes or so until he is really asleep.
@avianlouiebos, There’s also a line of onesies (shirt no legs) made out of special breathable material and the arms attach together. Hard to explain somewhat like a swaddle but in a very breathable shirt. We used these and they were fabulous. Ours was the same would start with the cry face then they startle and triggers the arm reflex. The shirts may be worth a try rather then a swaddle blanket. I bought a set of three they were quite pricey online..I’ll be in Edmonton in two weeks could drop them to you for a try. It may solve the arm startle issue lol
@beakymcspence, im going to keep this in mind incase I need this once new baby arrives. my first born never let us swaddle him ever but he let me put him down after a bit...most days lol
@carusod91 he cant roll on his tummy and yea he sleeps on his side most of the time
One thing I’d try doing is having him sleep on his side (is he able to lift his head when he rolls on tummy?). Once I did that with my son, he started sleeping better because he couldn’t startle himself awake as easily
@beakymcspence agreed i have noticed the unsettled arms but he doesn't even move he just makes a cry-y face and starts bawling like 10 minutes after i put him down i do actually try hold his hands so good advice sometimes it helps other times it doesnt, im worried swaddling would make him too hot me and him both sweat just from the effort it takes to get him to sleep..
@fitmomma93 i just dont want him to get too hot cuz were both drenched in sweat even when were naked
Maybe try the swaddle if he's not settling in his sleep. Helps to make them feel secure like your holding them
@avianlouiebos I'd definitely try what @beakymcspence suggested.
@paperplane, It’s a reflex with their arms at this age, for the life of me I can’t remember the name right now. My youngest would constantly wake herself up with her arms, but if you held her she felt secure and couldn’t do it, therefor didn’t wake up lol
@beakymcspence, that's Good advice ! I would not have thought of that. Give that a try @avianlouiebos
Because if your holding him he’s held secure and likely can’t startle himself awake. My daughter was like this till we wrapped her up in a light muslin swaddle wrap. He’s likely startling himself awake moving? They often do it with their arms or hands.
May I ask how long you are holding him before putting him down?
This happened with ds when he use to be held to sleep. Once he was asleep we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes before putting him down in his cot or on our bed.
That was happening to us and we moved her bedtime up. It worked! Sometimes they are over tired. It’s worth a try.
Make your own breakfast!
At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
what are you guys thoughts on letting your baby cry...my baby goes to sleep on me but once I put him down he crys and wakes up I don't like letting him cry like that so I pick him back up. he will be a month old in 2 days.
I’m so tired but I can’t sleep. Every time I lay the baby down he wakes up after like 10 minutes. 😴

Lol I just want to keep kissing him till he wakes up
Anybody baby won't sleep in their bassinet? Is their a way we can make it More comfortable? I was thinking taking a fuzzy blanket and tucking it under the lil mat that's in there because every time I set him down he wakes up right away.. But if I put him in bouncer he will stay asleep or in our bed he stays asleep but I really wanna stop the bed and start bassinet. Any recommendations?
@beakymcspence yea I assume theyd be pricey so I cant
