I’m kind of feeling guilty that my husband tend to tell me about everything he does or plan to do but I don’t.Sometimes I make decisions without consulting him but he does.He once brought that to my attention, but my mum said that I shouldn’t tell him everything.

@babyjay27, my husband and I both never speak badly or “vent” about each other to our families. We don’t let our families know about our finances, big decisions, etc. What works best for us, and a lot of our other married friends, is to keep most things private between the two of us. You’ll never know other people’s motives for advising you one way or the other when it comes to marital things, even family. Maybe if you and your husband sit down and have a talk about what each other thinks is acceptable/unacceptable, what things you both agree to keep between the two of you, what things you definitely need to discuss together before doing, etc, it might help alleviate the issue of doing things then him being upset about the lack of communication. If you’re sure about what you and your husband think, then your moms input will become irrelevant to you and you can just politely tell her thanks for the advice but you know what works for your marriage!

@babyjay27 I'm sure if you explain it to him, he'll understand. A sincere apology goes a long way. My husband and I have learned over the years that open, honest, compassionate communication is the best way to work through any issue.

I have to wonder if your mom understands what it takes to have a long term, healthy relationship. I would never keep anything from my husband. I respect him too much to treat him that way.

@mommytok, yeah I think that’s true cause I might turn out to be a bad wife. I don’t want to take my husband trust for granted.

@mommytok, true. Can’t let anyone run your relationship.

My mom tells me the same thing and my man the same way. I don’t keep anything from my man. I tell him everything. In my view a open relationship is a healthy one.

Your mom shouldn’t be involved in your marriage like that but that’s my opinion 🤷🏽‍♀️

@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer.

My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk out...
