I’ve been running my home daycare for 5 years now and have never raised my daily rate($30 - day) after talking to other daycare providers in the area, they are all charging 5 dollars more an hour than me AND they don’t include lunch (which I do). I feel like I need to make a change but I’m feeling really nervous about raising my rate by 5 dollars a day (works out to $100 extra a month). I was thinking about just raising it $2.50 a day and then any new families that start in the future I can charge $35. What do you think? Would you be mad as a parent if this happened? All families I have now have been with me for 1.5-2 years.

It depends. If you know some of the families are low on funds and that don't have the extra 100 you might be doing them a diservice

I actually sent out the email about it last Friday that I was raising the rate come September and nobody said anything about it!!! I’m pretty happy about that! How do you like the Nanny who helps with your little guy?

We have a nanny/home nurse so I can’t comment as ours is funded because JJ has special needs and requires this care. I can say as a parent though if they see the value of what your providing etc they shouldn’t be upset. Your providing lunch for less then the going rate around you.

@brynsmommie But you could still do that now instead of making a big jump. One of the perks if being in your daycare for them is probably the price

@lynzie.judd, that’s amazing to hear you would do anything to keep your daughter in a good daycare!

@mommy1991, each set of parents have good paying jobs, I am just scared to upset anyone that’s been with me for years....I guess I should’ve gradually raised every year

I can't afford that currently but if you were a good day care I'd go without my phone (that I rarely use unless my daughter is asleep) so she could keel going

Ya that’s a tough call, maybe some parents chose you to provide the care because they can’t afford that extra 100 bucks a month?

Most home Daycare’s where I am are between 40 and 50 a day.

I don’t think it would be an issue if u raised it.

I wouldn’t be mad. As long as I was happy with the service being provided I wouldn’t have an issue paying more!
