Hey guys...just moved and my daughter got hold of my sharpie 😭😭😭....the walls are a mess...I was putting the baby to sleep....magic eraser just makes it a light purple shade....acetone is rubbing the paint off....what should I do? Use the acetone and then paint? Or just paint over the whole thing??
@jessgarr- okay great. Thanks for all the advice!!!! Really appreciate it. 😁😁😁
@sofie321, Also most people use “Eggshell” finish for the glossiness level of interior walls. So you’d ask for the colour to be matched in interior latex paint with eggshell finish. They also sell low odour paints for with minimal fumes, might be good for trying to hide it from the landlord. It’s what they use in schools and hospitals. I used it for my place.
@sofie321, Hmm. Every paint company and brand have different shades with different names and codes. It would almost be impossible to guess. What I would do is go around your apartment and try and find an object or colour on a magazine page, anything that’s the same colour or as close as you can get it to the existing walls. Then take that object to the paint store and they will scan it and colour match it for you.
@jessgarr- sorry lol...I'm renting and have no idea what to ask for, for paint colour. It's that typical off white colour. I just want to have it the way they did, without involving the landlord.
@sofie321, I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking lol Are you asking for my opinion on paint colours?? What do you mean by shade?? 😂
@jessgarr- yes, I read that in a couple blogs...so I went and bought a primer...I bought acetone as well, it's taking the paint layer off...so after that I'll prime it...but any suggestions as to the colour? What do these companies use for shade?
@sofie321, If you decide to paint over it you have to use a primer sealer first. Like pp mentioned just painting another coat of paint over it will cause it to bleed through. My childhood bedroom walls were completely covered floor to ceiling with paint, coloured pencil, and markers. My mom was super chill with letting us be creative...
@carmelosmommy ohhhh okay. Thanks for the suggestions. I just read this...I'm trying to research as much as I can beforehand to save the headache. Maybe I will do the acetone and take the layer off then. Don't wanna do a lazy job and then regret it.
@sofie321, don’t paint over it before you manage to get some of it off .. I tried to paint over mine here at my house (there was sharpie & pen all over the wall) and it seeped right through the paint after it dried 😮
Okay...might give it a try...but I'm exhausted lol. I do have some white paint but idk if it matches with the colour.... If I had the money I'd pay someone. I already went through this when moving out last month and took it all off the best i could woth magic eraser
I’ve always heard that drawing over sharpie with a dry erase marker then wiping it off works. You may have to do it a few times to get it completely off. But that’ll take awhile since they’re huge. :/ sorry
@sofie321, haha! No problem!
