I need a little help Spanish mamas! It’s my SO & I anniversary and want to try something new. (Cooking style) I’m always making American food and souls food so, First time making Spanish rice and of course i don’t have all the ingredients i don’t have sofrito or tomato sauce. And at this point I’m too lazy to go to the store so I’m looking for substitutes that i might have to modify this rice lol any ideas?

@shababy Im hispanic and theres plenty of different ways to add flavor to it . like onions,garlic,salt chicken broth and you could use the spices from the soup maruchan just take those little packages out and use those .
@emily526, the smell of sofrito alone is awesome so i know my rice is going to take a hit. I’m going to make a little today and see how it taste and then tomorrow I’ll run back to the store and do the real deal lol
It's definitely not the same without the sofrito, but I have made it without before and nobody complained.
@lex105, i literally just ran out because i made oxtails last week and i was rushing in the store and forgot i didn’t have anymore so lol idk what else to use to give it an extra flavor. I have everything else besides those two ingredients 😢
@hazelmaplewood, so it’s no other way to make arroz con Gandules without those two lol and no not yet i wanted to find out before i started
you can make white rice without the red on it . do you have any bollin ?
@shababy It's definitely not the same, but the white half of my family didn't notice at all 😂 it was the Puerto Rican half that knew something was up lmfao
