Do you think all babies learn to point, by just learning? Or possibly being pointed at, Like "don't do that". My nine month old is starting to point, and she spends a good amount of time at daycare while we work. Just curious if it's just something she learned.

Most likely it is something she saw. Could be other adults or kids! My daughter loves to point!

Pointing is a developmental milestone for babies. It is how they communicate something they want (pointing at a block, for instance). It's possible that she saw someone point at her, but just as likely that she watched another baby point to something that they were interested in. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that she's being scolded/pointed at negatively.

@techie_grrl you are probably right. It's just that the daycare has so many new workers but I was just assuming it could be a possibility. I actually really trust the daycare worker that is in there with my baby for the most part but she leaves in the afternoon. When she points it is definitely at something that has caught her eye, the TV or her dad.

@leahcook thank you, yeah I was just curious. I talked to the main lady in daycare when I just dropped them off I just want the pointing to be something she sees in a positive way
