Has anyone had body image issues after baby and if so how did you deal or handle it?

@wolfiemagic my mom always used to tell me "you are your own worst critic". And she is right. You notice every little change in yourself, but no one else will. Believe your fiance when he tells you that you look good. He's with you for a reason. I hope that things start to feel better for you soon.

@techie_grrl this really helped. This is my baby and I'm just so use seeing myself the way I use to be and looking at my body now I just dont know who the person is. In my eyes I dont look or feel attractive. And my fiance always says that it doesn't matter what I look like since we have her but I feel like deep down he feels the same way I do. And I've pretty all the pregnancy weight in two weeks but I still have a little way to go. I just I can get my stomach almost flat again. And I hope over time I can all this negativity out my head and feel attractive again. But I've always had issues with my body image and I just feel like it's gotten worse and I'm trying hard to not let it get to me. Maybe over time it will get better but I have a beautiful baby girl that I can focus on so that's all the matters.

I did, and I think it's pretty normal to have body image issues postpartum. You've given birth. You're in that awkward stage where your baby has arrived, but you may not be back to your pre-pregnancy weight so you aren't quite in "normal" clothes, but you aren't the same shape for maternity clothes. And even if you can fit back in your regular clothes, they just don't look *quite* the same. I dropped weight rapidly after birth and ended up looking extremely hollow for a while both times. I had PPD and anxiety and taking care of myself was harder than it should have been. Especially this go round with my son being in the NICU just shy of 3 months and trying to cope with his medical needs, an energetic toddler and my own medical problems. It can really wear you down. But, what you'll realize, is that so much of the "big issues" you have right now concerning your looks really do lessen in time. With my first, I started running and after a few months I looked healthy again, my hair gradually came back in (that was the biggest source of my body image issues. I had bald spots in the front of my hair that there was no way to hide), and my tummy firmed back up. Even though I drop weight quickly, my tummy stayed squishy for a while. But, that does get better. With my new little guy, I tried to remember my experiences from my first child. Give yourself time to heal. Love yourself where you are, and if you just aren't there yet, that's okay. You've been through a lot bringing a new human into the world! You will get back to a body that you recognize. ♥️
