Don’t get why moms try to dilate their bodies before 39wks. Ik they get impatient but even doing natural methods is not natural 🤦🏻♀️ our bodies are meant to carry our babies unless the doctor decides its not safe for them to be in there longer.
Some doctors don't really have a way of knowing sometimes though unless it's medical... our bodies are meant to carry until at least 42 weeks but some woman find it very uncomfortable after a certain amount of time. As long as it's after 37 weeks, there's no problem trying to induce on your own. Yes it is considered "early term" but basically all vital organs by then are done developing except for the digestive system which doesn't finish developing until the baby is born and eating outside the womb. Other than that, all that's really going on is extra baby fat. We have to take care of ourselves in order to stay healthy for the babies sake and if a woman can't sleep, can't eat, is in major discomfort, stressed and depressed because of the pregnancy, what good is that to the baby anyway? As long as it's after 37 weeks the baby will be just fine. With my first pregnancy, I tried to induce myself after 37 weeks because I was in so much pain but my body was not cooperating so obviously it didn't work for me, even by 40 weeks, I wasn't even dilating. If I could have induced myself and got my body working like it should have, I may have been able to save myself all the trauma I went through when I had to be induced medically at 40w4d. My son was weighing 8lbs 7oz and his head was too big so my labor ended up lasting nearly 48 hours and I ended up needing a csection which caused me to lose a lot of blood which caused temporary anemia. If I could have induced myself at 37 or 38 weeks, I may have been able to have a natural vaginal birth.
Wow yeah I don’t understand either they try so many stuff mine happened nature I was staying up late and heard a pop I’m like wtf is dis hahaha but everyone is doing tea and crazy stuff I’m like just let it take it course
@mommytotheo, @breezy81516, @squishymommy1, I’ll just say I don’t care how crappy I feel after. I always rather have my babies or their time or docs time. Always better safe than sorry
@breezy81516, that’s great! That doesn’t negate the actual evidence and statistics of babies that are born before 39 weeks who have problems. Hence the reason why full term was changed to 39 weeks.
I would just like to say my baby was born at 37+6 and he's perfectly healthy all his organs were devloped and he has no delays on anything. I was dilated to a 3.5 at 35 weeks and I didn't do anything to try and make myself dilate it just happens
I agree with @newlyironman, I had an emergency csection and all that could go wrong did I was in the hospital for 5 days due to loss of blood and needing a blood transfusion 6 units all together, I also had an infection. It was so hard on my three year old me not being home and him seeing me in the hospital like that and not being able to pick him up or do the things I use to for him. 3 year olds don’t understand.
I did it because to me getting him out on my terms naturally was better than having a Dr take him out with some medicine. Because that's what got to me I DID NOT want to get induced. I wanted to do it all natural so if I had to do natural methods in order to do it naturally then that's what I wanted to do. Granted I didn't start trying until 38-39 weeks but then I definitely tried hard.
Yes I had to raise 2 that aren’t my own. While their mom was on bed rest because of a car accident for about I think 4-5 months. Again not my own but did my best to make them understand that their mom couldn’t help them with anything.
@xomarylee have you tried to get a 3yo to understand anything like that before?
@damnkmar, didn’t mean push baby out we do that all the time lol I meant take is in to our own hand to make them come out because of w.e reason. 😂
@newlyironman, Ik I never had one but you know you can so much more than to pick up a 3yr all the time. Yes they are little but I’d rather speak and help them understand (mommy is sick but she’ll do anything/ everything else she can)
@squishymommy1, that’s why I rather my baby be safe and my body have to go through a rough recovery.. babies safety is beyond anything else❤️
@xomarylee well you've never had a c-section. I didn't want to look at my 3yo and tell him mommy baby hold you or pick you up for 8 weeks but I can hold your sister
@xomarylee, oh im sorry, i misunderstood
@xomarylee the only time I disagree with a mom trying to induce their labor is if it's before 37 weeks and they want to use castor oil, that's definitely a big NO
@damnkmar, I’m not saying the methods are harmful to the body or baby clearly they are natural because of they aren’t. Just meant it’s not natural to try to push baby out on your own terms
@damnkmar drank red raspberry leaf tea starting at 34 wks (it help strengthen the uterus, not induce) I was active and did a 3mi walk 2 day's before birth. Bounced and rolled on yoga ball. Started taking evening primerose oil at 37 wks. Inserted vaginally at 38 wks. And has sex about every other day.
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, you should do some more research. Babies born at 37-38 weeks are at increased risk for hypoglycemia, admission to the neonatal intensive care unit, increased need for respiratory support, increased need for intravenous fluids, increase risk for intravenous antibiotics and twice as likely to need artificial ventilation including a 7 times greater need for surfactant then in full term babies. Not to mention the 7.5% increased risk of mortality in early term infants. “Gaining fat” is not why being full term is important. *drops mic*
I’m not saying moms are in the wrong. Like I said before I just really don’t get and think it’s crazy that impatient moment make moms take unnecessary methods into their own hand. I rather my baby be better safe than anything.. if my body is fu**** up after that on my to take care of my self but I wouldn’t like to put my baby throughout anything because I don’t want a c section or am impatient.
@xomarylee, some stuff is cleared by doctors like RLT is cleared by doctors and midwives and oils and stuff i mean that still doesn’t guarantee anything midwives used that stuff back in the day if its natural its more than likely doesnt really pose a real threat and also doesnt guarantee anything and im sure most women that are really interested in the education and the correct way to go about will consult their doctor/midwife before doing anything to harm themselves or their unborn child, every situation is different, its good to keep an open mind
@damnkmar, walking and bouncing and all that are natural daily things we do to keep active. I meant oils, drinking unnecessary things.. extra stuff.
@damnkmar that's what I was wondering too.. If anything those things including sex just help the body along, it doesn't force anything
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, yes we did good luck to you again mama i hope we both get our VBACs😩
@xomarylee every natural induction method I used was cleared by both an OB and a midwife
@damnkmar I'm due on the 10th but if he doesn't make his arrival by then I have a schedule repeat on the morning of the 13th 😥 but I think we spoke before about it lol
@xomarylee, when you say natural remedies for induction what so you mean because walking, bouncing, drink RLT isnt harmful to mom or baby also those things have no direct guarantee of induction
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, like I said in the post before this one. It’s not about being rude i my self just think it’s crazy how moms tend to take it into there own hands rather than a doctor that’s trained for situations like that. Yes it’s hard when another child is in the picture but you have to understand pregnancy is a lot of stress and age the baby a lot will go down. I don’t think it’s ok to make choices for your baby to come early unless it’s called for. But your the mom and it’s in your hand 🤷🏻♀️
@newlyironman csections can be deadly and then the baby has no mother... I mean it's so sad.
@newlyironman, i agree with you both @ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, im shooting for a VBAC but if baby isnt here by 39 weeks im getting cut open it sucks because i really want to experience vaginal birth
@xomarylee unfortunately as well, doctors now a days aren't exactly reliable anyway... They don't all have the mother's best interest in mind like we think they do. Csection rates are at an all time high because doctors just want to plan it and get it over with because then they don't have to be on call and they get paid more so it's just easier for them.
@xomarylee the risk to the mother of having a c-section far outweighs naturally inducing at 39 wks
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, @newlyironman, I understand it can be super painful and uncomfortable and it’s scary to think a lot can go wrong. I’m just saying I also find it crazy because most women on here talk about like its about being “impatient” and I don’t understand why they would take that Matter into their own hands. A lot of people want a natural birth but I think it’s better for docs to decide than an “impatient” mother.
some women are just anxious which is normal the best thing we can do as a mom/pregnancy support group is educate and not belittle
And i wasn't uncomfortable. I was enjoying the pregnancy
And this time I'm in the sane situation as @newlyironman was, if I don't go into labor on my own before my due date, they will do another csection a few days after my due date which I really do not want. I have a 2 year old I need to be able to take care of him and the newborn without being in pain recovering from another major surgery and I want to have at least 3 or 4 kids and if I keep having csections it'll eventually get to the point where it won't be safe for me to be pregnant anymore
@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, that is woefully inaccurate. Babies born before 39 weeks are at increased risk for ALL KINDS of problems. Which is why the ACOG changed the definition of “full term”’pregnancy. Is 37 weeks term? Yes. Do babies born 37-38 weeks still have problems in greater numbers then those born after full term at 39 weeks. Yes.
@xomarylee I was attempting a vbac. If I got to my due date they were going to do it. No induction. Nothing. Either I did it on my own or that's it

@newlyironman, a c-sections when ?
Because if I didn't go in labor naturally they were going to force a repeat c-section
@krs1415, @squishymommy1, I just think it’s crazy. The “natural methods” are still unsafe because our bodies work naturally on their own
I don’t know why they try to do it at all 🤷🏼♀️. You won’t be pregnant forever. The baby WILL come out.
For real!! I'm a day over due and still not trying! They come when THEY are ready. Not because you want it to happen . It's uncomfortable, sure, but you'll be alright.
