My car broke. It’s 14 years old, 120,000 miles, paid off.

I’d get the new/used car. I’m okay with paying for something that is less likely to break down again.

@mtnmomma1202 If money isn't a problem go with the newer. Repairing an older car can become more expensive over the years.

It honestly depends what kind of car is it you have and what your trying to get if you don’t fix it??

If u have the funds to pay monthly payments plus insurance and gas then I’d say just get a new car

No brainer... put the 3K down on a new car, if your financially stable enough to afford those types of payments of course. I def wish my car payments were that low.

Mmmmm... depends if it’s worth fixing the car... my father in law is a mechanic .. he says Toyota,Honda are the best cars you can ever have.. he hates kias,crystlers,ford says their a piece of junk motors aren’t good lol, id say if the car is in good condition interior/exterior wise.. why not or if you don’t have any crazy expensive bills.. and can afford financing why not.

What is the old car? If it's one that'll go for 200k+ miles maybe repair it, but only if it's not like something that'll need more repairs in a few months. (My fiance is currently driving a 2002 Saturn and we just keep doing maintenance and tires/brakes when needed, rather than adding a monthly payment.)

Get the new one. If you can’t sell the old one, scrap it for $1000 or so, I’m not sure of the general condition, but we did that with my husband’s old useless car- we didn’t want to burden anyone with that thing! We set the money aside for a rainy day.

@mtnmomma1202, My husband is mechanically inclined he said, your better off with a Honda, their cheap in price reliable and repairs are cheap. Honda accords and civics are the best, it gives you time to save up for that jeep as well 😉😉. Never buy anything past 2000 unless you intend on spending money on it within a years time.! Older vehicles were built to last, newer vehicles are built to be maintained.

@mortonmining, Honda’s in general? Not sure that the smaller cars would make it in the mountains and we haul around kayaks all summer 😕

@mtnmomma1202, Look into a Toyota 4Runner, or of course a jeep Cherokee. We have a 1990 jeep Cherokee and we take it out often and drive it 9 hours from riverside county to San Francisco with no problems. This pic is before he upgraded everything.
