@pipoca, Hahahaha that’s so cute ! Unfortunately his dad is Haitian and speak creole which is actually a plus but we will not be teaching that until he get both English and French down we don’t want to confuse him too much. Because once he knows French he will be able to get Haitian Creole down

My daughter’s two and I’ve always tried to speak Spanish to her, she watches tv in Spanish once in a while and she understands some of it so far, it’s tough cuz no one that’s around her besides me speaks Spanish, I’d say speak to your little one in a second language as much as you can then repeat whatever you say in English

My daughter hears both English from me and her father and Spanish from everyone else in the house everyday. She doesnt speak yet but she does understand. If you tell her to come here in either language she comes. She knows her head and mouth in both language. She try to say agua etc

@mommytok, oh funny I’m also half Ghanaian but I don’t speak Twi I understand. I see where that could happen

My nephew is Ghanaian and by 2 years old he was really confused switching between Twi and English, so they pretty much stopped and stuck to English. Maybe a more similar language might be easier for them to switch between

Agree with a previous poster, speak to the child in the language you want them to learn and then repeat what you said in English. So you'd say "tiene hambre bebe," and repeat "are you hungry baby?"
