to wean or not to wean
Today while nursing Jeremiah bit me with new teeth hard enough to draw blood. They are not even a full inch above his gum line. He's not actually chomping down though he's pulling off with it pinched between his teeth before I can break his latch. This has been going on a couple weeks.
We’ve been nursing for 15 months, and he is showing no sign of weaning. His latch sucks right now because he’s teething, so I’m not sure how much longer I’m willing to go 😞
Weaning How did you ladies start with weaning I'm wanting to start giving my son porridge In the mornings as he's no longer interested in his 10 o'clock bottle, do I drop that or not? Xx
Any suggestions for teething? Normally Angelo uses teething rings and he's fine, but his 2 top teeth are cutting at the same time , and he's been crying non stop for the past 30 minutes 😣 I've given him baby Tylenol but it doesnt seem to be helping:(
best things for teething?!?! 👶 I've gave him anbesol and bongela, he won't drink his bottle not sure if the teat is irritating his gums, only thing that's settled him is a dummy he's sort of moved it to the side of his mouth like he's chewing on it I obviously don't want him to go to bed hungry though 😐
Is he teething this early ??ok my son is 2weeks from 5 months ,he drooling a lot ,keep chewing on his hands ..my hands ..his dad hands..his toys ..and he's a little fussy

Just start taking it away when he does it. It's something that a lot of kids do regardless of age. My dd did this at 3 months with her gums, and there's no way I would've weaned her then. It's still good for him, just teach him that when he bites, he doesn't eat for a little bit.

That's the think he knows what he's doing. I have put him down but I don't think he understands

DD is 11 months old. I've been dealing with this for months. My nipples have been infected four times. But I want to keep nursing. I think now we are finally at the point where she understands. So I'm glad I kept going. There are some good YouTube videos from moms that have been through this with good suggestions.

So because he broke the skin, will I be more prone to infection from his saliva?

My first son did this a few times at around that age. I removed him and put him down and did not give him again until the next nursing session (he only did it when he wasn't hungry, he was just "playing") (and I won't admit or deny whether I also tapped him lightly on the cheek). Anyhow after a few times he stopped. I nursed him until 2.

It was the same for me, dd knew what she was doing but she had no idea it was hurting me. She got a kick out of my reaction. My LC gave me a good tip, tell her no firmly and set her on the floor and leave the room.
It seemed to get worse when she was teething. I had to keep a finger on her cheek at all times and when I could feel her teeth I would unlatch and say 'no! Don't bite mommy. It hurts mommy. No milk if you bite.' Kinda took the fun out of it for me for awhile because I got a little paranoid. But, we worked through it. As a pp said, most go through this and I was determined to keep nursing.
Eta: after I healed I actually nursed her a lot for a few days to help her understand. When she would unlatch without biting I made a big deal about it and said 'good girl! No biting is good!' She would be very proud lol

I'm hoping that once his gums hurt less he will stop.
