It’s normal for babies to not sleep through the night and to wake at least once or twice to eat. Cereal isn’t recommended before the age of 6 months if at all. It’s a choking hazard and has virtually no nutrients which are vital at a young age.

Cereal doesn't help them sleep through the night. There is a huge growth spurt around 2 months as well. When does he take his last nap of the day? Its also perfectly normal for him not to be sleeping all night yet

@goodjourney, yeah I just gotta keep trying and yeah my mother suggested using the cereal she goes I used it with you guys but that was 20 some years ago lol

@meggcragle i understand. Being a parrnt is definitely trial and error cause every kid is different. My daughter made me feel lile a first time mom cause she was so different from my first son. ......maybe try some soothing music for him? Baby lullabies?

P.s. i agree on not putting the cereal. Besides it being a health risk it also is true that it doesn't work. My daughter had bad acid refluz and the doc told us to put a little in her bottle to try and help her not spit up. (And she was older than 2 months)....but she woke up the same amount of times anyways lol

@goodjourney, yeah someone suggested to do cereal but she’s an older women. I never said I would bc he’s two months old. And I know many babies who sleep through the night and some who don’t still and they are over one. He did pretty well last night in his crib just gotta find the right way for him to be comfortable there’s times he wakes up every hour and then there’s times he wakes only twice. Just was asking for ways to make it easier on him

I’d steer clear of the cereal. And I know the desires to get a full night sleep is strong but at this age it’s still important that they have their bottle/breast.

I hope this isnt his case but not every kid sleeps through the night. My daughter didn't until way after her 1st birthday and i tried everything.....but yea definitely not at 2 months. Do you keep him in total darkness at night? Only use a night light To get him use to night and day?

@meggcragle if you swaddle still maybe try cuddling with the swaddle you use before bed that seems ti help them sleep because they can smell you

@meggcragle its probably a growth spurt. Dont stress it to much. White noise does help a lot. We keep the tv on cause he sleeps in the room with us.

My son didn't start sleeping through the night without waking up whining until about 8 months, but what helped him sleep long was the vibrations on his bassinet and a swaddle sack.. He still woke up at least once or twice but it was brief and he usually fell right back asleep after being rocked in his bassinet for a few... And cereal in bottles shouldn't be before 4 months and not without a doctor's ok. It doesn't usually help babies sleep anyway

My 9 month old doesn’t even sleep through the night. He’s still up twice a night.

My daughter started sleeping through the night between 2 and 3 months, probably closer to 3 months. We didn't do anything special, no swaddling, white noise, etc. What we did do was have a strict daytime routine that we followed everyday. Including the nighttime bath like you described. If you are cosleeping or in the same room that may be a factor, I found once I moved my daughter to her own crib in her own room she was less fussy at night... kinda hurt my feelings at first lol.

There’s so many factors that go into sleep at that age. Is he cold/hot, gassy, wet/poopy, going through a developmental leap or growth spurt, etc. I know it seems like everyone’s saying their baby sleeps through the night, etc, but in reality most babies do what yours is doing, mine included! Try to do a dream feed before you go to bed- feed baby right before you go to sleep while he’s still essentially asleep. It could help stretch his next wake. Also swaddling, white noise, a very dark room with just enough light for you to be able to see, and even a lavender oil essential oil diffuser. I’ve heard good things about massage too. Good luck!

My twins did not really start sleeping through the the night untill about 3 months. Do you use any white noise? I think that helps babies sleep better because it drowns out other noise that could wake them and it can also be relaxing. We also try to give them the most formula right before bed. Give as much as you can for your babies age. Is baby on a feeding schedule? But don't over feed. You can over feed a baby. And a no on the cereal.

@meggcragle is he formula fed or breast fed? Breastfed babies tend to wake up more often as it digests faster then formula. 7-1 isn't bad at all.

Just was simply asking I know about the cereal and that he is to young and I know that they usually don’t sleep fully all night just a better sleep schedule than every two hours.

@mommytotheo, he usually naps around 3. I had his schedule for 9 but he changed that and has been passing out at 7 so I’ve been giving a bath a little before. He sleeps til 1 or so in the morning sometimes before that and then is awake every two hours that’s on a good night
