Got my 4 month old twins on a sleep schedule at around 3 months. I also stopped night feedings at 3 months. They both have a bottle then I place them right in the crib between 8 and 8:30. I never rocked them to sleep and barely co slept with them. They have been used to going to sleep in their own almost from the start. I also use white noise when they sleep. When I was still feeding in the middle of the night I would feed them with as little contact as possible, no eye contact and no talking. Just eat then back to sleep. Also don't change diaper unless it really needs to be changed, this wakes them more. I had to sleep train my 3 year old at 7 months old, but this time with my twins I will not have to because I've been putting them to bed while still slightly awake since day one.
LO has been on an (attempted) schedule since day 1. We're adjusted it over time as our sleep schedules changed and as kiddo slept for longer stretches. Currently our schedule is...
Wake 530/600
Nap 930 for an hour
Nap 2p for 30 min -1 hour
Nap 430p for 30 min (maybe)
Bedtime at 7p
LO almost always sleeps through the night. may wake up once but goes back down quickly with his paci.
Both my 8 yr old goes to bed at 9pm. 2 yr old goes to bed at 8pm.
8 yr old gets up around 7:30/8am. 2 yr old gets up at 7am.
You gotta sleep train the kids when theyre really young. Like 6 months old. If you miss that window, better late than never.
Will they cry? Yes. Will they out up a fight? Most likely.
But guess what? Life goes on. They'll live. It's crucial the kiddos get 9 1/2 hours of sleep a night at the very LEAST. It's also healthy for us as parents to get some down time in the evening and be ALONE and/or with our SO's.
