Currently living with my partner's grandmother our daughter is autistic she is 2 going on 3 in September my partner works every day both over tired with our daughter and her nan it's like having two kids......but because it's just us home my partner gets home at 5 depending on traffic and the trains/buses but I've tired to create a routine but I can never stick to them but we have been reading a routine for some austic kiddies helps them alot so feel free to comment on what you do for your routine with your kiddies on a day to day

Have you got a good team helping? They may actually be able to help with getting a good routine working that suits you guys and your little girl.

Have you tried a weighted blanket for bedtime?

We are thinking of trying one for our daughter

Thank you so very much! Every thing you said happens to us and it takes about 0.5 seconds for a meltdown we put her to bed at 6:30 usually but we just can't pick it we are so over the place

We find routine to be super important for our eldest, outside of the routine or if we miss any part then she doesn't cope well.

I do dinner early ( she's a super slow eater), shower at 5:15, she watches her shows then till 6, teeth then when her dad gets home (usually close to 6:30) we do books, toilet, then typical bed routine stuff for her and bed at 7. We make sure everything is in place before bed otherwise we head for a meltdown.

It still takes her a while to unwind most nights.

We also find using a noise free star projector to be really helpful, as she can stare at the lights on the walls.

If you don't have one it may help? If your daughter is sensitive to sounds like mine then you may find the lights that play music have the potential to cause more issues.

Locking your doors We are having a discussion on one of my birth boards from my older kids about locking doors and security alarms. There are many of us (me included) who do not lock our doors at home (I actually don't even have a deadbolt on my house and we don't lock it when we leave either), and others who think that's totally weird. So what do you do? Do you lock your doors? Do you think it's weird that people don't?
