Question: do y’all have your babies rear facing until their one or two? Not a judgement thing, just…

It’s a state law thing. In Wisconsin it’s 2

As loooooong as possible. My daughter is 2.5 and rear facing and will stay that way as long as possible, I'm shooting for 4.

As long as I can. In California the law is 2 buttt it’s parental judgement.

I kept my son rear facing until just after age 2 when he started being really antsy and bored in the car. Facing forward is a whole new adventure! I keep his seat way back from the passenger seat in front of him though.

@amouryaya09, I agree, I saw someone who had their little one front facing that just barely turned one! And he’s LITTLE! I wasn’t trying to be judgmental, but it seemed way too soon!

@amouryaya09, right? My sister took my daughter not even 5 miles down the road one day and had her front facing (she doesn’t have kids, I didn’t even think to tell her) and I about had a heart attack!

My law is 1 and I still have my daughter rear facing. It has nothing to do with their height or weight. While you should safely follow the car seats max. Their neck vertebrae is too weak for a forward crash. I lost my info pics or I would share them. Rearfacing protects their neck and spine and absorbs most of the impact. My daughter will be rearfacing until she maxes out of her seat. Heck I might buy anew one to make it even longer

It's such a common misconception that it has to do with their size but no matter how big or small a child is the neck vertebrae finished fusing around age 6.

WA state law requires rear facing for infants 1 and under or until they’ve hit 20 lbs.. however with my siblings (and soon to be with my son) we have always done until 2
