Poison ivy while pregnant?! I accidentally got poison ivy all over me!! Are there any risks with the baby being so small right now and what’s a good treatment that’s safe?
I had it at the end of my first trimester into my second when I was pregnant with my daughter. They just gave me steroid cream and let it run it’s course. I had a patch about the size of a tennis ball on my leg and it seemed to take forever to heal. You are also able to take Benadryl. I suggest if you can’t get in to be seen right away to try maybe some witch hazel. It’s all natural and I have been using it this pregnancy for my lovely hormone induced rashes I have been getting. I’m not so sure about other OTC creams. Just to be safe.
I was attacked by fire ants on one foot while walking a couple days ago. The itching and swelling is insane. I’ve been using an ice pack on it so I don’t itch followed by hydrocortisone cream. You can also try taking Benadryl at night if the itching is still unbearable.
If it doesn’t improve, your doctor can put you on a mild steroid to control the itching. It’s safe during pregnancy.
@db413, @prettyjazz98, my doctor isn’t available today since it’s Saturday. They aren’t open till Monday and this is driving me crazy with the itching!!!
