Has anyone ever requested to be induced? I know it's a usually a no apart from medical reasons but what is classed as a medical reason to midwives?
I have my 38 week midwife appointment tomorrow.
Prior to this I've had many problems. My midwife never shows up so I get sent all over. A cover midwife has put a complaint in and taken pics of all my notes because I didn't even have a feowh chart at 35 weeks, no baby kesudremenrs and none for myself, luckily I got a different midwife because baby is measuring small and still only measuring 35 weeks so everytime I go I have to have growth scans!
Anyway I also have a dialated kidney which is agony and haven't been given any pain medication and it got forgot about until a different midwife, again, rang up and I have a consultation tomorrow. I can't sleep with the pain at all. My health visitor wasn't even aware I was pregnant because no one is communicating.
The past month my feet and hands have been getting very swollen especially on the night but my BP is always normal. From last week I haven't been able to get to sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning for a hour or so a night because my legs and feet sting so I can't get to sleep. Baring in mind I have a 4 year old and it's affecting both our quality of lives.
Well aware induction is a lot worse than natural labour but with my first child they didn't even believe I was in labour and was in active labour for 36 hours before the had to cut me and use forceps because she stopped breathing but kept blaming the drop in heart beat on the weather, she had meningitis when she was born.
I don't want to be induced early just don't want to go past my due date at all.
I
was going to opt for a c section because of problems with my first daughter anyway but never dared ask.
What is people's experiences on asking for a section and/or being induced because of medical reasons. Not really interested in how the labour induction was just how did it happen
Thanks x
Edit: also been in hospital 3 times with reduced movement and the monitors showed there where barely any movement so I had a scan for this and he didn't move at all for half an hour until he twitched his hand
Do you think I can talk to the consultant tomorrow even though it's for my kidney. It is in the maternity department though x
@fayekatiedouglas yeah it was fine on the monitor and they done weekly scans to check the fluid and blood flow in her cord was all fine but they said it could be something there not picking up so i didn't want to risk it. I was like had a diffrent midwife every week only got to see my one once at 4 weeks and never again x
@fayekatiedouglas, demand to see an Obs consultant. You are within your rights. Especially as your midwifery care has been soo awful. And say the same to the consultant xx
I have the midwife tomorrow and s consultant but that's about my kidney x
@hg83 I don't think I'll get much joy to be honest I have a different midwife every time and every time I mention something they just laugh it of. Xx
@fayekatiedouglas, talk to the consultant. Be honest. Tell them about anxiety etc- they may give you a c-section. Write a list of all the things you have mentioned lovely. I have been induced 4 times now due to severe back pain. I’ve just been very honest with them. Really hope you get some joy tomorrow- keep us updated xx
@abbyrose was your movements ok on the monitor though? Because I know they can see them x
I kept getting reduced movements and was sent for growth scans as her been small. I was consultant led to and I asked to speak to him as I was up the hospital at least once a week with reduced movements at my hospital if you have it more then 3/4 times they will induce so i asked as I was worried something else was going on they didn't pick up on scans so they induced me at 37 weeks x
I am going to be speaking to my midwife about elective induction this time round as I lost my son at 20 weeks and I had loads of complications with my daughter which caused me to be induced at 37 weeks and almost lost her during so I ended up with emergency forceps. I’ll be opting for it between 38 and 39 weeks because baby is classed as full term and with all my anxieties and worries plus the problems with my previous pregnancies my midwife is supporting our decision and we are writing up a proper plan at my 32 week appointment. I think as long as your not requesting it super early like 36/37 weeks they will agree based on your reasons xx
@fayekatiedouglas yeah I don't see why not, just ask to speak to him x
