I have a rant and this is just my opinion but I bet most of you mommies will agree.
If you can go get your nails done and pay 50 to 60 dollars then you can pay for your child’s milk and all that. I understand needing help with baby stuff but food I mean come on it’s not that much.
I know I don’t know your guys lifestyle but it pisses me off when girls get on wic and then go spend so much on themselves.
I feel like we as Mom's do so much for our kids and we forget about ourselves and it shouldn't be that way
@filterless if you read my comment the right way, it's not WIC that I'm mad at. It's the cash benefits, food stamps, child support all that she collects and she live in shelter so he doesn't pay rent or utilities. Yet she always looks her best but her children go with out. I'm all for WIC. I had it with my daughter and I will have it with this one because I could use the help. So I don't know why you are coming at me about WIC. Never once did I put it down.
@gummybear728, you can’t “spend” Wic on yourself you can literally only get milk, and basic household staples. Milk, bread, fresh produce, and cheese. How could that make anyone “Mad”? No one is living it up on WIC and it’s actually in danger of going away because not ENOUGH people are benefiting from it, as in using the benefits and signing up. It’s sponsored by major brands so minimal tax dollars are used. The more you know.
Right! My husband works 9-6 6 days a week but that doesnt mean we're ballin my fam sees nice things in my apt and they automaticaly think we balling but furnjture we have is cus he works in construction and he keeps the house well too like paints and does small stuff to the apt we also buy stuff second hand like on craigslis and letgo ppl are so quick to judge😥i might not be wearing name brands but u best believe that my kids are well dressed before me
@gummybear728, I understand what you are saying and my daughter sure as hell comes first
@nlock I didn't say it was all people. You put your child's needs before you get your nails done though, correct? Such as diapers or undies, food, clothes, etc? Yes, mom's should be able to pamper themselves. And like you said in your other comment, you are unemployed but thats due to tend to your daughter. that is awesome and highly understanding. What bothers me is people who abuse the system, spend the money on themselves and not their kids and then cry a pity party that they don't have diapers, milk, formula, etc.
@gummybear728, but you can’t say this is all people . I receive government assistance but like I mentioned before my hunny gives me money for my nails now I don’t get my nails done weekly nor even bi-weekly maybe once a month and neither me nor my man have a job but he wants me to be able to feel pretty every now and again
I mean I don’t completely agree with this ... I receive WIC and food stamps but I still get my nails done granted the money comes from my man AND I would never pay 50/60 for them either the most I pay is $35-$40 but I am also unemployed currently to better tend to my daughter and getting a job would be stupid right now given the fact that I’m due in about 2 weeks with my son . However, I do agree if people are abusing the system and just using these resources . But sorry to say milk is a bit expensive depending on how much your child eats . Before we started weening my daughter from her milk we recently got knocked down to 7 cans of milk and would still have to spend dam near $60 on milk in a week just because my daughter needed her milk and was not yet eating solids or drinking less milk .
I look at every side. It should not annoy you because you don't know that person life or struggle. Maybe getting her nails done is the only thing that she can afford to do for herself and make herself feel good in her struggle. Maybe because she get WIC it helps her save the little cash that she do have so she can treat herself every now and again. Some women go weeks without getting a fill instead of every 2 weeks because she is providing for her family and can't afford a biweekly nail appointment. Do not be so quick to judge because you never know what someone is going through. Yes there is some people that abuse the system but you can not judge everyone else based on 1 person.
I get wic and food stamps it’s not much but I’m blessed to receive the help from them I get.
I get so sick of judgmental ppl making ppl who receive help feel like they shouldn’t get to live ever! You don’t know how much a person save to get to treat themselves every once in a while. I work hard as fuck for my family. But I work in child care I don’t own the place therefore I don’t make a lot of money. I do the best I can. And I wish a bitch would open her mouth to say shit to me about getting wic or stamps. Ppl stay trying to put ppl down. Until u know what’s some ones bills break down to how much they have coming in or how many kids they have then stfu!!!
@missheatherbaby, I didn’t say it wasn’t enough for that. I said it was far from balling and that a lot of families are over that. You were acting like most everyone can qualify for wic. I spent over $1100 on formula for my daughters first year, not including the month of toddler formula after that. That alone can make someone broke as hell and choose not to go get their nails done.
@meandmyprincess1 yess i know it well im on fs and when i pay withmy ebt card i get nasty looks and stares😩😧if they only knew that my nails are from amazon nail polish and glu from 99c store and makeup is drugstore and is wet n wild soo 😥🤗
@modom16, it is true. A family of four has a $45,000 a year income limit. That’s enough to get your nails done.
I get wic and food stamps but I am a cosmetologist. So needless to say my hair and nails are always flawless for free.. but swear the looks I get when I use my EBT card. Smh..
I'm from a third world country, I think the first world parents have it made. My government don't care if my kids don't eat, so we have to work to provide. I think in many cases people do take advantage of the benefits offered, mostly because they can. Their priorities are skewed in my opinion. Your nails are fine if you cut them and clean them. Your hair is fine if you wash it and learn to do it yourself. I wish those 40-60 dollars would be put in a savings account for the kids, you'd be surprised how much it adds up
@missheatherbaby, that’s not true at all. Wic has an income cut off and a good majority of families wouldn’t qualify. We are far from “balling”
@tooserious86 sure is. I wish I didn't have to work. But hey whatever floats her boat. I just think she is scum to be honest.
@fuhgeddaboudit because she is in shelter. She doesn't collect ssi. Because there are no problems with her or her kids. She knows how to work the system like many others do.
A lot of ppl don't qualify for food stamps but do qualify for WIC. There are qualifications for a reason. There are people who are paid to figure out if you can successfully afford cans of milk and the proper nutritional food throughout the entire month. Some people work and still struggle. These programs were born because of past struggles in the US. If moma wants to treat herself... We don't know how long she saved up to do it or if her husband/bf is treating her to it. Its best to not worry about it in my eyes. No shade.
I 💯 agree. How do you have money to get your nails done but cry for help with buying milk or diapers! My boyfriend's other BM ALWAYS has her nails and hair all done. But cries because she doesn't have money for milk or diapers! She has 4 boys. (Only one is my boyfriend's) she collects child support, cash benefits from the state, food stamps, doesn't work because "what's the point? I'm making more by not working than I would if I worked." That pissed me off. Oh and she lives in a shelter because it's easier for her. I don't want to pay for your lazy ass! Get up and work! Your kids need come first!!!
@missheatherbaby, exactly I qualified for WIC and they didn’t even look at my income I don’t qualify for anything else I work but I’m not balling however I make to much to get stamps 🤷🏽♀️ and I was just pricing similac twenty and some odd dollars a can 😩😩😩
Okay I’m sorry if some of you think I’m judging it was just a rant, I didn’t mean to offend anyone I think it might be the hormones because I’m never this irritated
I think it’s called priorities. You can only
Get on WIC/stamps depending on your income. My son is eight and I haven’t gotten stamps since he was a newborn however groceries are one of my biggest bills. I get my hair and nails done once a month but I don’t judge anyone I don’t think anybody should sit high and look low on anyone
We don’t qualify for WIC and I can’t afford to get my nails done every week! I actually don’t get my nails done period- I would rather spend the money on Mommy & Me classes- so I guess I could, but choose things for my child and family over that. For people who receive benefits, it’s okay to splurge once in a while, but if you have a standing weekly appointment for your nails, you can obviously afford food for your child if you give that up. I don’t pry though, because you don’t know their circumstances. There job may require them to keep their appearance up- yep, some jobs have unwritten rules that better be followed- in that case- of course get it done! . Sometimes someone has a wealthy parent that pays for these frivolous items, but won’t help with necessities. What I don’t like though, are the single moms that purposely stay single to qualify for the programs and their boyfriends live in the housing, eat the food, yet work and make money for a Range Rover and new furniture and the things most working families just can’t afford.
@angelreaper171 😁😉sorry had to make my point because no woman should feel ashamed of herself for putting herself first once in awhile
@angelreaper171 I mean yeah I get that part like if you have the money to do it all the time then you have the money to support your kids but like for instance me my husband is the only one working but once in awhile he gives me money to be able to spoil myself why because as moms we shouldn't have to sacrifice all of ourselves to our kids and forget about ourselves remember us as women we have to take care of ourselves in order for our men to see that we're not letting ourselves go just because we have a kid
@mommytonayeliz, yes I agree to that but if you do it all the time that’s when I would be mad
I feel like we as Mom's do so much for our kids and we forget about ourselves and it shouldn't be that way
Even people that get their nails done can get wic. Wic is available to most incomes. Unless your balling out of control, then you still qualify for wic. Obviously your child comes first and should always have food, but there are many women with children who are well fed with their nails done.
I agree to this to a certain point I feel like not not because you're on government assistance you can't treat yourself once in a blue moon, hey but that's just my opinion what does it matter
@caseysmommy92, I agree and plus people that work have to pay for your wic and if you have extra money then you don’t need wic or food stamps or anything like that
@turky, If I had to choose I would definitely choose my kid over nails or anything like that I mean it’s good to treat yourself but if you don’t have it then you don’t have it
Agree luv ur nails are not more important than your child eating 😐
