Last few days have been stressful! I'm a special education teacher who is part time in a classroom with nonverbal to semi- nonverbal students with autism (middle school age). Just found out my administrators are trying to bypass procedure and compliance and put me in this room 100% if the time next year. WTH! I love these kids, don't get me wrong, but they are also violent. Just last week I was hit and lunged at by one of them. Did I mention I'll be 6 months pregnant at the start of the school year!? SMH

Isn't there a law against this? Because you're pregnant, you should not be put in dangerous situations and have the right to refuse. Maybe it's different in the US?

Special ed students cannot be taken lightly. Esp the nonverbal...they get so easily frustrated when trying to express themselves. I teach 16&17 yr olds. Now is the time to put your safety first...u need to have a convo with admin.

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?

Beginning/ lenght of school year?

Beginning/ lenght of school year? I'm just wondering this out of curiosity. I see here that there are great discrepancies in the date of the start of the school year (from late July to September).

So it's hard for me because my 16 year old past the test when she was in third grade and my niece passed it last year…

So it's hard for me because my 16 year old past the test when she was in third grade and my niece passed it last year and now all my daughter's friends will be going to the third grade and she will be repeating and I don't want to send her back to the same school to be bullied because she has to repeat a grade and so I'm looking into other schools but see the thing is you teach her something she gets it then you go back to it and she like I don't know it so frustrating and she likes to wonder off so I'm scared to bus her because they lost her 2times on the bus and just the other day they let her walk home by herself I'm just in over my head please pray for me that I can find the right school and get an understanding of what to do
