webcam instead of monitor?
webcam instead of monitor?
Hubby and i have been researching ways to have a webcam/IP cam set up in nursery that will connect to an app in our droid phones and/or to our computer monitor downstairs. anyone else do this? we want IR and sound too. also, has anyone set up skype to monitor baby? it would be great to have baby monitor access on our phones, rather than buying separate video monitor to tote around. we had a video one and it finally died- would like to avoid buying another one.

My sister and her husband have a very cool webcam and app for their monitor. You can move the camera all around remotely and log in to see the feed from their iPad and iPhones. It's really groovy, plus they could use it for security or some other use later. They have a separate monitor for sound and temperature.

Yay for technology!
Yes, we have a camera that we could see through our smart phone "aplayer" app. It is networked with an old 4 camera system we had gotten years ago. A DVR records it, but we set it to record only when motion activated as the DVR overwrites anything new.
I don't know if we could make it Skype compatible. We also do not have sound hooked in through the cameras.
We got a different baby monitor (angelcare baby movement and sound) for sound. We liked the idea of being alarmed with no movement detected. They had one with monitors but it was not compatible w/ smart phones or remotely viewable and it was expensive.
Good luck!!!!
