Boys and Peeing
Sooooooooo, I know this is super weird, but do your boys sit or stand to pee?
Are you sure that your 9 year can go to the bathroom while standing? My husband's youngest brother, 8, couldn't. He had a condition that caused him to be unable to control where the urine went when standing up so he just always sat down to pee. Maybe a trip to the doctor is needed to see if there is a reason he is missing so much.
If he wants to pee everywhere then make him clean the toilet.
Mine started sitting but now he stands (he's 3 and we're still working )
My son was potty trained the same month of his second birthday and he's now 2 years 5 months. We just started introducing standing to him sometimes. (Daddy shows him) but for the most part, he probably won't be able to do it for a while because his hole is in a little bit different spot than normal. But he sits perfectly lol I don't think it's weird for guys to sit to pee at all.. But cleaning after themselves is a must
I started to sit my two year old when first training midway through he would kneel on the toilet seat because he is too short to reach it. We bought him a step stool and he stands now. He also gets toilet paper and cleans the pee if there is any on the seat. Put the seat down and flushes the toilet. He is still two. Turns three in may. A 9 year old does not need to sit. Thats crazy for your husband to ask this. Yes it might be gross to clean but he can teach him how to clean it up if it gets somewhere.
My son was 2.5 when he was potty trained. He turned 3 in August in the summer everytime we were outside he would pee on a tree to practice standing (we have a privacy fence!) he will now be 4 this summer and only stands to pee! We just taught him to aim at the hole in the toilet and he lifts the seat everytime and never makes a mess!
If your 9 yr old wants to sit and that's his preference that's fine but definitely shouldn't be making a mess still ?
My husband and his 7 brothers were all taught to sit and pee when at home and other family members home due to hygiene and to stand elsewhere and I will teach my sons the same thing. I don't see what can be wrong with a man sitting down to pee. It's far easier than cleaning up everywhere!
My 4 year old stands and has since he was about 2 1/2. My husband taught him to aim and if he missed, to wipe the seat. We have had maybe a handful of times where he's missed so badly that I had to clean up after him and he was always made to help.
You guys need to teach your son to be careful and considerate and make him clean up his own mess.
Anytime someone mentions men sitting to pee, I think about the movie "about Schmidt" with Jack Nicholson.
Both. He's 2.
When he goes with dad he usually stands. Morning when he's half awake he will sit, and when I go with him he will sit.
Eta- just realized your son is 9. If he's still peeing on the floor id be making him sit or he would be on bathroom duty to my standards! I'm with your dh on this.
My son sits and occasionally stands at home he mainly stands in public restrooms but he's 2 1/2 I think instead of getting mad at him he should show him how to not aim at 9 years old you can't expect him to sit because boys pee standing up unless they have to poop at he same time but it if bothers him that much maybe tell your son that when he misses to clean it after leave son Clorox wipes in the restroom at all times at 9 years old he should be able to do that whenever my brother would spend the night over I would tell him to do that
Thanks ladies! Yes, I agree - he should have cleaned up after his mess and I totally understand my husband's frustration with the mess. What I don't accept was the way he acted. He got really mad. You can get mad and reprimand someone without yelling at them for a solid 5 minutes. That's what caused us to get into it after the kids were in bed and to be honest, we are still not talking.
I told my son first thing in the morning he is to clean the bathroom since he didn't clean up after himself, which was wrong. I just didn't agree with the way my husband reacted.
He can sit or stand, I have no preference and he stands outside of the home always. I just don't like how hard DH was being on him.
My 3yr does both, he mainly, likes to stand and we actually taught him how to hold and aim or he leans all the way with hand on back of toilet with butt pushed in. In public I hold him to wear he doesn't need to aim and not touch the toilet. But because we can't get him to poop in the toilet yet we sit him mainly at home.
My 3 (almost 4) year old ss stands on a little stool. Ds will be taught to stand as well. I'm letting dh handle that.
What's the big deal with guys sitting to pee? A nine year old isn't too old, because they are never too old. Seriously, I don't understand why people are saying it's weird. DH switches between sitting and standing, depending on how he feels at the moment. I do, however, think nine is too old to be leaving a mess, whichever way he pees.
My 3 year old sits at home and stands in public restrooms.
My 3 year old stands. When learning he hated to sit and wanted to be like daddy. The only time he misses the toilet is when he holds it for too long and it sprays everywhere.
Ss is 5 when he was potty training he sat. Once he was potty trained though he learned to stand. If he misses the toilet or gets it on the seat he cleans it up. I think nine is to old to be sitting and if he's been sitting his whole life I don't blame him for missing at times. He just needs to learn to clean up after himself if he misses.
My 25 year old fiancé can't even hit the toilet every time, I wouldn't expect a 9 year old to. But 9 is way too old to be sitting, I'm surprised he doesn't get pee everywhere from sitting.
I don't feel like it's so far fetched for your husband to be mad that he didn't clean up. The boy is 9, he knows better. And it probably doesn't seem like a big deal to you, because you don't clean the toilets. I understand that your husband is upset and personally, I feel like it's valid. He shouldn't have to sit down, but he does need to know to clean up if he makes a mess.
I didn't think men sat to pee either. My husband doesn't, he stands
My son who is 4 sits, he's been trained for a year but he had a traumatic experience at 2 where is testicles had fluid in them and were causing a lot of issues. Has caused him to have a genuine fear in his mind about touching it. So he can sit as long as he likes, he's only just now started touching it again with a face washer when I get him to "clean it" at bath time to try and get him comfortable again.
Sorry ended up with some irrelevant info there lol.
9 is tooooo old to be sitting. Sorry
ETA: never knew men sat to pee. Ever
My son stands. He is 7 years old
My husband usually sits. If we had a son Id teach him to sit just because it's easier.
Idk why people act like it's weird for men to sit to pee.
My son has a urinal so when he's not being stubborn he stands and pees in his whale.
The rule in our place stands at if I sit in pee or fall in the water there will be hell to pay
My son almost always stands to pee. He never really gets pee on the toilet though. I'm guessing because he's 3 so he's not tall enough to cause any splatter??
I have one bathroom and will have 3 boys in the house. Everyone is sitting down.
Hubby just said he likes having a break to pee - if I get to sit down for a minute or two, he wants to as well. Fine by me!!
Normally he is clean, I've only ever noticed pee on the seat maybe twice. I'm not sure why tonight was so different, but it's still not a reason to get mad at a kid for. Simple, tell him he's cleaning the bathroom tomorrow morning and end it at that. It's no reason to yell and just go on and on and on about.
DH was mad because DS didn't clean up after and he left the seat down which made the mess so much worse, but instead of talking to him about cleaning the mess, he kept going on about sitting vs standing.
It just makes me mad. It's stupid. I was raised by my dad and I have 3 older brothers. I was the only SITTER in the house! ? I just told DH to get over it. DS can stand if he wants. I told DS if he doesn't clean up when he makes a mess, he'll be scrubbing my bathrooms every day.
Hopefully they'll both come around.
My SO sits at home. It definitely helps with the messy part. He says its more convenient than hanging his Dingdong over the toilet and getting the splash of piss everywhere.
With your boy being 9, however, he should know how to aim by now. Also, should have him clean up after himself.
If he's 9 he should be able to use it without making a mess. But he shouldn't be forced to sit or stand. He just needs to learn to clean up after himself. I see why your dh got mad thought. Leaving pee on the toilet at 9 yo is just lazy.
With ds will always taught standing. At 9 yrs old he should do whatever he's comfortable with though.
My 6 year old stands but he knows to put the seat up or to clean any mess up and then let me know so I can clean it up using a cleaner.
I agree with Pistone. He shouldn't be forced to sit but he's fully capable of cleaning up after himself.
When we first started potty training I taught my boys to sit. When they mastered that then we moved to standing. Asking a 9 year old to sit is kind of weird in my opinion. He should be able to aim pretty well at that age, and if he makes a mess he should be able to clean up on his own.
My 3 year old goes back and forth between sitting and standing, depending what he wants to do. Standing is definitely messier but it's part of having a boy, I guess.
I'm potty training so I'm teaching him to sit but he will definitely be standing when he's done being trained.
Boy house problems - the boys bathroom always smelling like pee always - I just cleaned tf out of it with bleach I still smell it 😩
Just got my one month old to pee AND poop in the potty ☺ #godiaperfree
is it true that when your changing a baby boys diaper he can pee on you, like his pee goes everywhere✌cause 😷😷i dont think i prepared to get peed on just yet lmaoo
What’s the most embarrassing thing that happened to you ladies during labor!? With both boys I pooped, but with Eliana I peed everywhere!!! I thought my water broke and the lady kept say no hunny you’re just peeing I said but it doesn’t even feel like pee it just keeps coming.... she said I can check you and see but I believe it’s just pee! She checked me and my water bag was bulging but hadn’t broke.... oddly enough I found that more embarrassing then pooping and I cried because I was so embarrassed 🤦🏻 ♀ 😂
does anyone else pee like every ten minutes.... ? I feel like my baby boys heads down, I'm peeing so often. . I'm 29 weeks Monday. help?
