I think I'll end up buying a Doppler, but I've read a lot of stories/reviews about it working, which is why I asked.

I downloaded istethoscope because it was .99 not 5 dollars and it worked well I set it to clear sound and put it to my heart first to find and hear that then on my belly it took some time but I found it I wish the app could tell you how many BPM though :(

I can't see why it wouldn't work. If they can hear baby's heartbeat with a cone shaped piece of wood ( I think it's called a pinard or something) then why wouldn't the phone be able to pick it up.

U have to be really patient and also have zero noise. Good headphones.

And be able to know roughly were baby is. In older weeks (23*) general idea were baby is head up or down roughly were there heart is. If there laying at ur back wont get as good of a range/sounds and i even proved to my dr. It works.

I used it on a regular basis with my last baby and the heartbeat defo wasn't mine, it was much faster. Baby needs to be at least 20 weeks for its heartbeat to be picked up by the microphone.

I used it last week (preg with #2) and it picked up her heartbeat too. It works

I downloaded the same exact app with my 2 yr old and I could hear her actual heart beat. I even showed my dr and she agreed it was her heart beat.

I downloaded it again for this baby today and I can't figure out where baby is laying to get the heartbeat. So I'm going to try again to find it. If not then oh well I don't remember if I paid for it or not.

You CAN hear a babies heartbeat with a stethoscope in the third trimester, and you can hear through the phone mic in certain circumstances. It always depends on how bub is laying ect.

Yes, stethoscopes can definitely pick up the heartbeat later in pregnancy. My dad bought one when my mom was pregnant with my brother and listened to his heartbeat every night before bed after my mom hit 25 weeks.

I'm certain you can hear a baby's heartbeat with a stethoscope around 20-24 weeks. This is what doctors and midwives used before dopplers were invented.

Stethoscopes cannot pick up a babys heart beat. Your cellphone is not even close to a Doppler, nor does it have any of the technology of a Doppler.

I don't think stethoscopes can pick up a baby's heartbeat. I could be wrong though.

Cinde- because a doppler emits sound waves. Your phone doesn't.

Op- if you hear anything it's probably your own pulse, not the baby's.

It's not a Doppler, it doesn't give off sound waves, it just uses the mic and amplifies the sound... Just like a stethoscope would.

And I did spend money on it in 2011, but back then it was only $2 or $3.

pp- If the mic on a Doppler can pick it up, why can't the mic on a phone? Do some research on it, it works if you know how.

I haven't used it myself, but I've been contemplating it. Don't know for sure if I should part with the $5 when I hear the heartbeat monthly anyway lol.

It's not possible to hear a baby's heartbeat through an app. I hope you didn't waste any money on that bc it's a scam.
