Sandy!!
Who's getting caught up in this crap? I just read they are conservatively estimating more than 10 million people without power. Ugh!

In NYC still no power, no heat, no cell service. Finally there is some limited bus service. Crazy traffic everywhere, no street lights, organized chaos. Hoping for the power back on by Saturday night. It got very cold outside.
Still have power here too! :-) Seems to have calmed down a lot outside. Almost curious enough to want to go for a drive to see what the nearby damage is.
i still have power! thank god.
@exc1 where are you?
Same here!!!
Woke up with power here too! I can hear the rain but from the sounds of it the wind has calmed down. Sooo happy we kept power
Well I fell asleep early and actually slept through everything! :-) and I woke up and we still have power! Woo-hoo!
We have power but most in our county don't. The wind is outrageous!
I'm in SC, and we're only expected to get the side effects of it. But it is SO windy here I can't imagine being in the middle of it all. Keeping all you ladies and families in my thoughts and prayers!!!
In Michigan we have a wind advisory, its up to 50-60 estimated through the night. Its now snowing. Yayyyyy for working at 1 am lol
Still have power here!!!
That poor lady :(
So someone in Toronto just died due to a staples sign falling on her because of the wind. Yikes poor lady
Still got power so far. Windows sound like they wanna pop out lol. Oh and just got told I'm overreacting and attacking someone else's opinion because I said I'm taking Sandy seriously. Great night! lol
I'm not expecting to wake up with power.
I'm in southern Michigan and we have really strong wind and rain. We could lose power but I hope we don't.
I'm shocked we still have power. I'll be surprised if we don't lost it before I go to bed
Last I checked it was close to 200,000 in MD :-/
I just read that 2.2 million were out of power in NJ.
Holy crow! I'm in Morris County, NJ and it is soooo windy!!!
I'm in Cali and have been sitting in front of the tv all day watching this . I am so scared for all of you. Please stay safe my prayers are with you
We are in CT too. So far we haven't lost power, but the winds are strong, it's rainy and there is a lot of flooding at our shores. Coupled with evacuations and 150,000 out of power. They are estimating that between 300k-600k will lose power, but I'm not really sure what to expect as far as the hurricane goes. It's supposed to hit us from 10pm-2am.
If they ever called an evacuation here, I would be out the door in no time flat!!!
Still have power but lots of folks around us don't have it.
Praying for everyones safety!
Crazy but true - my sister just gave birth last night to her baby two weeks early and was discharged from hospital two hours before they shut up - she is in central New York and holed up in a flat with a new born and two kids. Keep her in your prayers folks!
I am in NYC. The wind is crazy here. Everything is shut down, 144 thousand without electricity based on the latest estimates.
Unfortunately, even with all the warnings we'll always have those individuals who want to think they're invincible and act reckless and, sorry but its true, plain out stupid in the storm. It's one thing if you HAVE to be out. Things happen. Jobs still have to be done, babys still need to be born etc.
Don't compare this storm to Irene. It's way bigger. Irene was a normal category 1 hurricane. They lose power when they hit landfall.
They're saying Sandy is picking up power because of the cold storms approaching. Shes was bigger and more dangerous. One death in an accident on I-270 just reported
I'm in Atlanta and so far just a s*** ton of wind and it's cold as balls.
This wind and rain is killing me I'm DC. I'm over it. Not to mention it's freezing cold. No schools and no public transportation. Wind is blowing rain soooo hard. Uuurgh
Strong winds and snow in Western NC. Just flurries and wind at my house though. The big snow is happening just to the north of us.
We are right now!!! Just finished all my laundry dishes cooking snacks everything!!! It's getting reallllyyy windy now... Even thought to charge my laptop just incase lol 2 kids 1 big kid with no power I'm not ready!!! Lol
Stay safe guys.... :-// i need to turn this t.v. Off its freaking me out
I'm in northern va about 20 moms south of DC. We still have power, but I'll be surprised if it lasts the next hour, the wind is getting pretty bad. I read they've evacuated parts of DC. Yikes
Agreed. I've decided to take a long bath away from news and windows to stop thinking about it for a little bit. Nothing I can do now but wait it out.
i wish it was over already! this is scary.
Were not even half over yet -.-
I live in Louisville, and we are getting some crazy, strong winds! They say its because of her but i don't know. Hope everyone stays safe!!!!!
We are good here in VA but I read that more than 100K are out of power in NY and up.
Not sure how Va and further north is doing powerwise.
Im in allentown, pa. Pa is in state of emergency already.y lights have been flickering for a bit but thankfully still have power.
so far around 34000 without power in MD alone and the worst hasn't hit yet.
I live in Cleveland and its been raining seriously non stop for the past 5 days. There's been power outages and flooding including my basement.
im in hampton va a lot of places are flooded and with out power. i still have power. the areas that are low laying have been asked to seek shelter. i think the worst is gone ,but then we still have high tide and all this rain so im sure more flooding will happen.
I'm in Atlanta and we even lost power.
I'm in CT and winds are picking up now. I'm hoping we don't lose power. We had a blizzard last year and lost power for a couple days. But when Irene hit we had power...so you never know.
So how is it this morning for everyone?
Here in NoVa the winds are just starting to pick up. We have gotten a little less than 2 inches of rain so far. Nothing serious yet, but she is coming!
Thanks Katie!!
Stay safe people!
I'm in central NJ the wind started to be strong.
Most people who are talking about stocking up on water have wells. The pump on a well is electric so when power goes out no water. You should be fine water wise.
So we have city water. If our power goes out, our water still works. What could cause the water to stop working? Or would it just not be sanitary?
I'm in Maryland and hubby and I are ready. We are lucky though we have a built in generator that will power all the essentials. I hope we don't need it though!
I'm in VA, right in its path
Smart! I didn't even think about freezing water!! I'm going to do that
I'm in Staten Island :( and I'm alone with baby! Hubby had to leave for orders :( stocked up on water an I'm filling my bathtub tonight just in case!
One of my good friends in Virginia beach just posted a picture of one of the power boxes right outside his house exploding. :-/
I'm also in Ct. It looks like it's going to be bad. Just hoping my house stays in one piece and we keep power.
I moved from Fredericksburg, VA to coastal Florida and we've had less hurricane activity than they have the last 6 years. Such irony.
Stay safe everyone.
I'm in PA about 15 minutes from Philly. The rain and wind has started, but tomorrow's supposed to be really bad! I'm nervous!!
I'm in CT, just waiting for the power to go out. This time last year we had a blizzard and were out of power for 10 days in the freezing freezing cold. Everyone is freaking out, but I don't think it could possibly be as bad as last year...
You have to get out of there, PP!!
To take them to the shelter we have to have a crate for all of them, and we only have one. It's not supposed to get bad until tomorrow night so I'm hoping we can figure something out before then
I live in Monmouth county NJ! My town has a mandatory evacuation but we cant leave because we have three dogs. To make matters worse I'm 40+3 I JUST lost my plug and if I have to go to the hospital we have to leave them here and hope my family can get across town to check on them :( I'm so worried stressed out
Oh and for the record, the other trees that may hit other houses are in our neighbors yard. We had all of ours taken care of and urged him to do the same, but he didn't.
I'm worried about that too. We had 5 really old, dangerous trees cut down a few years ago and the tree people said they were our only "concerning" trees. If the others fall, they won't hit our house but they might hit others.
My main concern is all the trees around our house :( I really hope they don't fall because if they do they'll probably land right on top of our house.
Yum!!! Sounds delicious!
Mmmmm Rice Krispies!!!
I'm in Toronto and were moving Halloween for it.
Federal government is closed tomorrow! All of the counties have closed the schools now too! All in our area.
S*** 's about to get real!
Mmmmmm! Got my hummus!! It was buy one get one free!! :-)
i live in jersey. what time is it suppose to hit here ?
Hope you ladies stay safe!!
man I feel bad for you all. its 82 here in Vegas, suns bright as hell..
send us some rain!
but really I hope everyone is safe and its not that bad.
good luck.
I just moved from Cali to PA (Langhorne) 3months ago... I'm oddly excited to see/experience this. Glad I'm not on the coastline, & I feel for those who are.
I'm in md right outside of dc. Any have ideas on protecting frozen milk. I lost power in June in that bad storm and the energy company said they reinforced everything so it wouldn't happen again. But you never know. Thank god the temperature is good and we don't need heat or ac.
Sandy has already killed 66!
Just sent DH to the store. We will see how this goes. They are saying this will be worse than Irene, which killed 56 people and caused more than $19 billion in damages.
@star Yes I'm way prepared for sandy to hit us and I just received a text from the gov updating me about the storm.
Temps have definitely dropped here in MD ahead of the storm. They're saying Monday evening for the worst of it.
We shopped on Friday! Although I really wish I had some hummus right about now. I might venture out in a few. Hope that goes well!
@jbragg I use to live in Burnside on Davidson! Right now I'm @ 183rd near fordham rd.
@luv I'm in the Morris park section. I used to live by burnside &179. My mom still lives there. What about you?
I'm in NoVa prince William county and it supposed to get bad. I live on. Military base and they boarded up windows on the chapel and other important buildings. Walmart was packed and there was barely any water or chips in the store! I have family in northern New Jersey too and they are all expecting the worse.
I really hope its not all that bad I live in Jersey. people are in the isles literally fighting over the last toilet paper, all the stores are out of everything. batteries, water, candles, nonperishables, etc. with Irene we had severe flooding and lost power for 4 days. ill be PISSED if it goes down like that again...
hi guys im in the uk and have seen this on the news just wanted to say i hope you all manage to stay safe xx thinking of you all
Im VA Beach. Theres alot of flooding currently but so far its not too bad. Tomm is supposed to be the worse but I think we got lucky and it will mostly miss us. But I have family in Long Islad, Delaware, and Upstate NY. Im worried for them! Eveybody in the northern east coast, your in my thoughts!!
Well every surrounding county schools have been closed down but no word on Prince William County! I also hope that OPM declares at least a liberal leave day tomorrow, people shouldn't be forced to drive into the city, where it is supposed to be worse!
I however work from home everyday so I will be stuck working, unless the power is out!!!
@jbragg what part of the Bronx you're from?
@ luv I also live in the Bronx. All public and private schools are closed. The mta will begin to shut down starting at 7pm and by 3 am there will be no mass transit. I work in one of the zone locations that will be evacuated. NYC is built on top of a landfill so that's why NYC is prone to extreme floods. My sister lives in ulster county and they lose power during a normal storm so she is expecting to lose power and flooding since they are surrounded by rivers.
Me! In MD, state of emergency declared, some counties already closed schools and people are running around as if it's the zombie apocalypse!
I'm only concerned because I'm due in 9 days and have been having some symptoms of early labor...my hospital is about 20ish minutes away on a good day so I'm a little nervous! We shall see though!
Oh and tomorrow is my birthday :-) last year on my birthday it snowed, this year a hurricane...jeeze!!
I'm here in The Bronx,New York area and they're closing schools and everything public tomorrow. MTA will be suspended @ 5 or 7pm tonight and zone a residents have to leave their homes. They also said that Sandy is stronger than Irene! So NYC will be a ghost town something you never see here. Spooky!
I guess we are supposed to get the aftermath of all of this during this upcoming week. I am in south west Ontario and they have predicted storms all week for us.
I wonder why they haven't canceled schools here yet.
In northern VA, it is supposed to start tonight, but the worst will be from noon tomorrow through 8pm Tuesday and should be all cleared up in time for trick or treating on wednesday.
I'm on vacation visiting family in ny. I'm from az so this should be fun!
I'm in mass we're not getting the worst of it but up to 80mph winds and tons of rain. definate power outages and down trees. schools already been cancelled for tomorrow.
I'm in pa :( I'm so not looking
Forward to this >:/ does anyone know how long it's suppose to last?
Good luck, Ladies! I'm not near the storm, but I'm from Louisiana where it's hurricane central!
im in va in hampton right near the beach.
They declared a state of emergency here on Friday and all weekend I've been tracking the storm.

I live in atlantic city and still can't get home. Luckily, I have no damage. My fathers house is absolutely destroyed. Friends of mine have lost everything. President Obama actually visited my hometown of Brigantine to help assess the damage. If anyone wants to help please donate to the red cross.
