I had read a arrival about how now a days parents are doing an amazing job teaching there kids about stranger danger, at least once a month there is a news paper report of how another child, was smart enough to avoid being picked up by a stranger...

But they go on to say, how although parents are doing great there, but now they need to teach kids about"familiar danger" teach kids what contact isn't appropriate from anyone...

The sad thing is, sometimes the pervs are the other young children. When my little half sister was in 3rd grade she had a boy touch her privates and exclaim "d*** girl!" Where the f*** did he learn it was okay to do that? Thankfully, she told us, but the boy only got a slap on the wrist & the parents weren't concerned at all (they probably should have been, my dad was LIVID). My dad & stepmom had to move her out of her classroom because the boy was allowed to stay in there with her! It was difficult to explain to her she wasn't being punished & now we're worried she won't tell us if it happens again :-/

^^ I agree. You should also teach them that it could be the people closest to you. I was molested at age 6 by my uncle so me and OH decided to start teaching our boy as soon as he can understand about "bad touches" it's sad but we must protect our children from these perves!

I will be doing that too and I will even go further into explaining that it's wrong even if the person is very close to mummy or our family. More often it's someone we know that does these horrible things

I have a 2 and 4 year old and we used a great book called yell and tell. It is easy to read with your kids and gives diff scinarios, like if its an older boy our a man and what to do if they want to touch or see. They have a book for girls and one for boys.

I was molested between the ages of 3 & 6 and only had the bad touch talk at school after it had already stopped and I felt so angry and upset at what had been going on without me knowing it was bad. I will be telling my daughter as soon as she can understand and elaborating as she gets older especially if she has questions.

I would tell your mom to give him the wash rag and let him wash himself.

@mom2be - that is a hard one. I think that telling him that it is okay for your mom when she is giving him a bath... And that maybe he can always just tell you when it happens.

Very sad, but very important, age appropriate teaching is must. My dad was a criminal investigator and very paranoid, I went to show and tell and demonstrated what we should do if we are grabbed by a stranger, touched inappropriately etc. Needless to say my parents gt a call thy day lol

I think I started mentioning this to my Oldest at 3. Not it a creepy way, but just told her that only married ppl can see or touch eachother naked. As she's gotten older I've elaborated.

He learned it in preschool too so he was also 4. I know it is important for them to learn because it happens... It just makes me so sad because it happens!

My sister & I knew way before that age..... Likely because my mom was molested from the age of 5 on which would've been 1970.

It's always been around... Now we just know about it :-/
