Scheduled c- section advice please

A scheduled c-section is a whole different atmosphere in comparison to an emergency one. Everyone in the OR suite will be calmer as they know what they are getting into.

Bras aren't permitted in the OR due to the metal clasps and such since they'll be using a device to assist in coagulation. Metal is a conductor and you don't want to get burned.

Thanks for the advice ! Do you know if it's ok to wear a nursing bra without metal in it?

My first son was an emergency c-section and my second was scheduled. It's like a different world with a scheduled, you'll be awake and everything is just much calmer.

Generally they want you in nothing but the hospital gown in the event that an emergency comes up so they don't have to cut any clothes off you. Chances of that happening are slim but it's just a precaution. They made me take off everything before my c-section. It wasn't a scheduled one but it wasn't an emergency either. Also no jewelry.

What siluna said. Everything must come off. They need full access to your body for safety purposes. Besides, they are going to put electrodes on your chest to monitor your heart, so having any type of bra on will get in the way.

I'm having a scheduled c-section this Friday. I'm a little nervous myself as delivering twins. Never had one before but nurse said the scheduled one usually go very smoothly. I just can't eat or drink anything after midnight and have to call L&D at 6am to find out what time to go in. Good luck!

You may also want to shave down there if you don't already. You don't have to do a clean shave, just the top couple of inches close to where they will be cutting. From my understanding, it is suppose to reduce the risk of an infection. If you can't, it isn't a biggie, the nurse will do it for you, but I find that I like doing it in the privacy of my own bathroom.
