How would you handle this....
Ok well this is my second baby but my husbands firsts. It's also the first grand baby on my husbands side. They treat my son like he is there's but since I know this is their first biological baby on their side of the family it's kind of a big deal. ANYWAYS! I don't have a Facebook. I hate Facebook. I don't like people in my business and if I want someone to know something, I will tell them. Well my husbands side of the family is really into Facebook which is ok BUT I'm so worried about them posting pics of my new baby all over their Facebook. I don't want my child's picture on there. Already my ex (sons father) knows all about my husbands family because they post EVERYTHING on Facebook. Even my SIL posts suicide posts and dirty pictures and my ex gives me a hard time about it because he doesn't want my son around someone like that. (Totally understandable) Anyway, I already told them not to post my pregnancy on Facebook and you can tell they were offended. But I feel this is my baby and my business. They just don't seem to understand ! I don't know what else to do or say especially when the baby comes.

Have your husband talk to them, maybe he can get through to them

I would have your husband talk to them as they will probably listen to him more. They should respect your wishes regardless though. It is your pregnancy and your child, not their business.

I swear we are the same person! I had to deal with this two years ago while pregnant with my husband's first, but my second. His family is all Facebook as well, but neither of us have one because the whole thing is just stupid. I'm not talking bad about ppl on Facebook, just my opinion of the whole thing.
Anyway, they are going to post pictures and stories anyway. It sucks, you'll get mad, they won't care, etc. If your husband doesn't see it as a big deal, you might as well hang up trying to enforce the no Facebook thing. It sucks, but it's not worth the drama.
My reason was for my first son and my safety, not just preference. I was raped which is how my first son was concieved. I married, so we don't have the same name anymore, but the guy had just gotten out of prison for raping me. I was sincerely worried for our safety and slept with a gun beside my bed (our bedroom door was locked so even if my son got up, he couldn't play with it or hurt himself, etc. During the day it was locked away, and I carried pepper spray.) I was that scared. They were putting what city we lived, my maiden name, and all kinds of other information out there that was unnecessarily putting us at risk, but his family was too proud of my husband's first baby to care. I hope it goes better for you.

I talked to my husband about it and my husband is such a nice guy that it's hard for him to tell his family anything. He totally agrees with me. I just always have to be the bad guy and I feel like they are gonna hate me for it.
@ljrussum- I'm so sorry about your situation and it seems like our husbands family are the same family! It's so hard to deal with. I'm so used to my family and they respect my wishes since my siblings all have children, they understand where I am coming from. When my son was born, I wanted no one to know for a while and they respected it. I guess it's gonna be hard having to deal with in laws this time around . And I'm so scared of giving birth and everyone coming to the hospital. They annoy me lol

It won't be that bad if they come.:) My MIL, SIL, and FIL were all at the hospital until after Liam, my second, was born. After they got to see him and take pictures, they went home and didn't come back until a week or so after we came home. I have unmedicated births too, so I was too focused for them to bother me.:-)
What made it so hard for me to deal with his family in the Facebook area is there is just so many of them. I am an only child to a single mom with only one uncle and one set of grandparents. Obviously, I come from a small family, but his is HUGE! We would have had to rent a building and flown people in to have a meeting about not putting our info out there:). Even the ones I did tell posted stuff anyway. We ended up okay. Sometimes you just have chose your battles. We had a big one over my son being the black sheep in his family after the new baby came which was unacceptable. My son calls my husband Dad and doesn't know that he's not. They started making remarks around him that alluded to the fact that my husband wasn't his father. The would also introduce him differently to their friends in public. Our biological son together would be "This is their son Liam", but my son would be "And this is her son Eli." Stuff like that. Everything will work out in the end.

Omg I can't believe they are doing that to your son. I'm so scared they'll treat my son differently . They love my son and always said he is their grandson and my son calls my husband his Daddy. My sons biological father came later on ( when he found out I was engaged) so now it's gonna be a bit more confusing. But it'll break my heart if my in laws treat my son different.
I just hope they give me my privacy when the new baby comes.

They only did that a few times before my husband set them straight. Now, they treat them equally, introduce them correctly, etc. It was just the first couple of weeks after Liam got here that they did all that. My husband is very firm when he has to be, so he cleared it up quick, fast, and in a hurry.
If your SO sees your son as his own, I'm sure he will do what has to be done. Hopefully, It won't even happen. That was just my particular situation. Just try to keep a cool head through it all:-) We lead by example, so try not to go crazy if something does come up. It'll all work out for ya'll:-)
