My MIL said there is a delay on tax returns for those claiming a dependent or getting the earned income credit. Has anyone heard about this? I didn't see anything on the IRS website.
On their website there says there Will be a delay formal people claiming EITC

Pp, you can file anytime but they won't start processing them until Monday, January 23rd.
Op, I'm following this too ? Usually I get my tax return in the first week of February but I think they're delaying them until the end of February ?
They are holding refunds until at least February 15 for certain tax credits. It's because of a law called the Path Act, which allows the IRS more time to verify the credits to reduce tax fraud. I saw something where if you claim the credits, you may not get it until February 27.

Yes I've heard of this.
Delayed til the middle of February from what I've heard.
What you need to do is get your taxes ready and file them the first day you can so that you meet the queue and don't have to wait.

She can't speak for everyone. When you go on IRS website and put in your info to check the status they will let you know if there is a delay or just let you know the status.
