What are the chances
Of getting pregnant while on the mirena? I've had the mirena for a year now. I started regularly getting a light period about 6 months ago and didn't get one in October. I'm going to go get a pregnancy test today. Also, is it likely that the pregnancy would be viable?

I have the mirena for 2yrs, first year my period (a tinny little brown spot) was coming on the right day, then I missed one month then came again and now almost 6m without a period. Also I had very bad cramping and mood swing and whAt looked like pregnancy symptoms and now I feel so normal, finally.

I wonder why that would happen! I took a test and it was negative. So maybe I'm just not going to get a period anymore.

Oh ya ? when it first happened it creeped me the hell out because I thought I was pregnant and I came out the room completely white from horror.

It's very normal to not get one anymore after having one. I had mine for 2 years and had 2 periods every month (lucky me) then it went normal then it stopped completely. Fun fact I even started leaking colostrum (or what looked like it) as well ? even though I had stopped bfing and dried up a year and a half prior. Apparently that's normal too.
*and was never pregnant

I'm currently 23 1/2 wks pregnant on Mirena. My Mirena couldn't be removed, so itll be delivered with my daughter.

@whattheshell
Yes, @jess and I both decided to have our IUDs removed around 6 weeks. It is risky but the IUD could cause more complications the farther in you get.
Definitely take a test. If you are positive I would get into your doctor ASAP, like make the call today.

I had a period when I got my first Mirena. After a while, I no longer had one. It was nice! ? Now that I'm breastfeeding and I have my second one, I keep a stack of cheap pregnancy tests on hand to ease my mind.

I'm so happy to hear all these women having viable pregnancies!

My friend is due in early December with a mirena baby.
She had intense abdominal pain for a week, got a positive pregnancy test, and discovered she was 20 weeks in to a viable pregnancy.

Cawas that's what I was thinking. Do they just take your iud out and see if the pregnancy is viable?

It can happen. I didn't get a period when I had mine ever. I think though if you have been getting your period you should still be getting it.

@jessnicole had a Mirena pregnancy. I believe everything is going well for her.
I'm 26 weeks into my copper IUD pregnancy.
I hope it works out!

It's weird because I was getting a period before. It was quite regular too.

It could be viable I'm sure. Best to take a test as soon as possible! Good luck!
