Just read this article today on Facebook and wanted to post. I'm going strong breastfeeding baby number two but I had struggles in the beginning. Hopefully this helps someone!

I've been making a concentrated effort to feed my daughter (7 weeks) this way today-she is nursing longer and actually napping today, instead of cat napping and waking up "starving". She's also dribbling less than she does in the cross body hold and spitting up less. I suppose it's all anecdotal and it may just be today, but I'm sold!

I can attest to this. With DS we had problems from day one and he refused to nurse anymore at 3 months. While pregnant with dd I found these videos on YouTube while desperately researching so I wouldn't fail bfing again. When I had her, after she was checked and weighed o laid her on my tummy and she found the nipple on her own and was nursing in about 15 min. Never had a single moment of pain (well jot until about 4 months and teething chomping OUCHIE lol). But this is miraculous stuff and I'm so glad someone shared it. It is true. I have 5 younger siblings that were all bf and I never saw it because it just wasn't done in public which is crazy. But anywho sorry for the novel. Just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Sjohnson: I would think it would be natural for a newborn to latch this way. As soon as the nurse laid my daughter on my chest she was rooting and latched on while I was laying back in the bed. We have had no problems with her latch at all. My son on the other hand (my firstborn) had no skin to skin and I did the standard cross body, boob sandwich position with him and latching was an issue for the whole 4 months he breastfed.

I could not have made it through breastfeeding my first and now my second without this position and the side lying position. Perfect for napping ? and easy on the shoulders.

I just read this article on facebook. Does this provide a good latch for a new baby? The breast feeding videos I watch usually teach to tilt baby's head back, make a nipple sandwich, and wait for the wide opened mouth. In this position, the latch is kind of just up to baby right?

Makes sense! I nurse like this a lot, mainly because I'm lazy. Who knew I was right? Lol.

I was actually thinking that, ladies. That when I'm half asleep in the middle of the night, reclined or laying down with her eating, it's an easier process. I don't have to hold my breast in place. She doesn't pop off as much. Maybe this lady is on to something.

I just read that about 3 am while feeding the baby. Thought it was quite interesting.

I was totally feeding baby the "natural" way while reading this lol its my favorite way. Alot more comfortable when I'm a sleepy momma.
