Online classes?
I'm gonna be starting online classes for my associates degree in a couple months and was just wondering how it is?

I love taking online classes! Between working full time and being pregnant, I am exhausted! If it wasn't for online classes I don't think finishing my degree would be possible. My best advice is to get a calendar to write down important due dates and you will be just fine :)
Thanks pp! I'm definitely going to look more into that!
Loved it much I received both my Bachelors and MBA online. Now teaching online courses :)
OP, this is gonna be long but bare with me you'll probably be really interested in this.
Clep exams are college exams that you pay for. They are $89-$100 each exam.
You study the booklet and then you take the exam. If you pass, you get credit hours for the class.
Example: My friend wanted to get her Associates Degree quick. She went to the Clep exam website and typed in the college she was attending. After typing in her college, the Clep website gave her a list of classes that she can take an exam for.
The Clep website said she can take history, English, math, psychology, and a few other classes.
She studied the booklets and passed with a 52. I believe a 48 is the lowest score you can get out of 100
She studied each booklet for about 3 weeks. She was lazy BUT she still got credit hours. Even with a low score in her exams, it doesn't show a low score in her transfer paperwork. It just shows that she got credit hours for the class.
She wanted to major in fitness, therefore taking such classes worked for her BUT if you want to major in Psychology then I wouldn't recommend you taking a CLEP exam on psychology because you won't learn anything. Lol
Clep exams may seem difficult but if you study the book for a like 2 months, you save yourself time and money and you pass the class.
Think about it, a score of a 48 is like receiving half of the answers wrong. If you do some studying, you'll pass the exam.
I think Clep exams are good if you want to get your general educational classes out of the way.
She saved herself 2 full semesters by taking those Clep exams. That is almost an entire year worth of classes.
You just need to be smart in choosing which exams to take the exam on.
Just thought you might be interested in it:)
Good luck!
I loved my online classes. I'd definitely recommend a planner and writing down all your assignments at the beginning of the semester, I wish I had organized myself that way in my first semester...it saved me SO much trouble later on.
I usually wouldn't be considering online but it'll only take 9 months to get my associates. Plus I'll be working full time so being able to do school work whenever is convenient. I know it'll be hard but I'm determined to do it
Don't know about other schools but online classes require a buttload of more work then taking classes in school. I've been taking online classes for two years but I still prefer it.
But your able to work ahead and my favorite part, stay home. Like other pp's said you have to be disciplined. Get a calendar and write down due dates and make sure to follow it.
I go to Western Governors University and love it. Its a college that is at your own pace. You pay the same tuition regardless of how many classes you complete. It also allows you to get done with you quicker than the traditional route.
@pp no I haven't heard of it what is it?
And I think I'm gonna give it a try. The school I got my medical assisting certificate from gives us the option to do the associates degree program and said if we needed any help with the classes we could just go in and talk to them. Math is also going to be the hardest for me
Depending on the class they can be easy or hard. I took a stats for business course and it was very difficult but I still pulled off an A
I just finished 2 online classes they are very convenient and I like them.
If you're a hands on learner it may or at not be for you though.
I think you'll find that some classes are super difficult to take online while others are a breeze!
Psychology and other elective classes are super simple online because it's basically reading out of a book and answering questions. For me, math was very hard to pass online because I can not easily grasp mathematical concepts.
That's my experience! Best of luck.
I like it because I don't have to get dressed and drive to school. Instead I do homework at my home :)
My daughter takes 1 hour naps (3 times a day) I'm lucky if she sleeps more than an hour during her naps but quite honestly I don't do my homework during her naps.
During her naps I mostly do chores at home.
The time I decide to do homework is at night after she's put to bed which is at 8pm.
OP, have you ever heard of CLEP exams?
It depends on the school you go through. I'm finishing my bachelors through Southern New Hampshire University and I love it! I was able to choose the classes I took and my advisor has been really supportive. My classes aren't easy by any means, but the professors are very knowledgable and we're always really good about answering questions in a timely manner.
