Co-Sleeping, how old is to old?

Co-Sleeping, how old is to old?

I personally do not co-sleep. I tried it once and woke up panicked that I rolled on him, so it's just not for me. But my question is how old is to old for a child to be sleeping with parent? I see moms with 2+ year olds, so when is your cut off? I knew someone who co-slept until 10.

Biggest mistake I made with my daughter. I didn't put her down at the hospital cause of fear someone would take her. But she is 4 now and she sleeps in her bed but at least 3 times a week I find her in my bed . cuddled by me or her daddy. She claims her bed is not comfy but mommy n daddy's is.... spoiled rotten # guilty

I don't think there's a set age. I co-sleep with my son and he will be 3 in April. I am starting to transition him to his own bed now because he is showing interest in it.

The right time is dependent on the individual family.

My son is four and still sleeps with me. I want to transition him to his own bed by 6. He is currently scared of the dark so it kind of works out that he sleeps with me.

I'm genuinely curious for those who co sleep with older children, like 2yrs +... Do you ever have sex in your bed, at night? If so, how? I know with a little baby you can move them elsewhere temporarily but older kids are different. Not trying to be rude or whatever, I'm truly curious.

My kids bedtime was early. They were usually passed out by 8-8:30. We would have sex anytime after they were asleep and anywhere in the house other than our room. Sex interference was a non issue. I'm a three times a day person if I can get it.

I don't think there's a magic number. Every child is different. Eventually they will want to sleep in their own bed. I'm not too worried about it :)

We're still bed sharing at 16 months! No clue when we'll stop.

Timon- is it really your business when bed sharers have sex? You can have sex many places other than the bed. Lol

My dd was 8 months and my son was 12 months. I made the mistake of letting my dd sleep with me too often when she was around 2.5 to 3.5ish, and it took me until she was about 6 to have her go to bed without a fight and until about 3 months ago to have her not come wake me up every night over silly things. I enjoy my bed space and my kids have their own bed with their own rooms.

My brother didn't sleep in his own bed until about 7 and my parents had to bribe him to do so. It was taking a toll on their marriage. My dad was sleeping on the couch for years and they had zero sex life for a long long time because of never having the bed to themselves, so it scared me out of long term bed sharing!! My aunts youngest two are 8 and 6 and they both still sleep with her... Nope, not for me!

I co slept with all three of mine until they were 8. My son just turned 9 last week and he moved into his own room in August. I loved having them in bed with me! We just pushed a twin and our king together and I bought matching comforters for both beds. Kids never slept by DH so he was spared legs and arms in his ribs. Each night the kids rotated who slept next to me and they were always so excited on their night!

I'd do it all over if I had he chance! Oh yeah, baby on the way means I do get to do it again! Can't wait! :)

If anyone wonders about sex... plenty of empty rooms in the house. We had sex at least 5 nights a week, if not more, and co sleeping never hindered our love life.

I've bed shared with my son since the day he was born. He is 20 months. He starts off in his bed and ends up with us. I would love a full nights sleep as I'm pregnant with number two but I love the cuddlea and watching him sleep :) I'm also paranoid something will happen if he isn't close to me.

My stepdaughter was the opposite. Never bed shared and always was hapoy in her own bed. Will come in with us sometimes if she feels like it but it's squishy with 4 in the bed lol

I will continue to bed share with my son until he sleeps through. I'll bed share with the new bub too.

I plan on co-sleeping until my son shows he is ready to sleep in his own bed. We are doing child-led-training though.

It depends on the family. For us, cosleeping just doesn't work, AT ALL. Ds doesn't like it so whatever works for him.

I think people really over-inflate the issue. Americans are obsessed with the idea of sleep independence and having babies and children sleep on their own. I don't see the big deal. Families sleep together all over the world.

We bedshare with my 28 month old, and have since he was born. It just felt right to us. I do plan to help him move into his own bed, but it will be gradual.

I slept with my parents as a baby/toddler. My dad is away a lot for work, and whenever he was gone I always slept with my mom, and then had no trouble going back to my own bed. I still sleep with my mom sometimes (with DS, too) when I go home to visit, and I'm 26.

It just doesn't feel weird to me. If it does, don't do it. And if you do it, do it safely. That's my opinion.

I wish my daughter liked to bed share. She slept in her rock N play next to our bed till 4 months then we put her in her crib. She would never sleep well with us.

I only have comment's towards my cousin (basically my sister) and her son's father but don't care what other parents, I don't know, choose to do. He is 6 and still sleeps in their bed every night. I personally don't agree with it but the main reason is because they are not together and have had numerous "randoms" come and go that slept in the bed with my nephew. If you want to be single and sleep around; put your child in their own damn bed!

There's no right age. It's when you and child are ready. My kids were ready for their own beds at about eight months. I cried cause I wasn't really ready but they were.

I am a Co sleeper with my oldest two kids. They are 4 & 2. Sometimes I wonder how it would feel like having my own bed alone but when my kids snuggle up to me I realize my bed would be very lonely. So they are more than welcome in our bed until they feel like theyre old enough to not need me anymore

I don't know why people want to put a magic number on when a child should grow up and not need mommy anymore. Let them be kids. Let them need their parents. They grow up too fast as it is. DD will sleep in my bed as long as she needs to.

Well there's problems with co sleeping to begin with as in baby falling off the bed or being rolled over on,however to each their own .I see it as the longer you co sleep ,the harder it will be to break the habbit of it. Kids like consistency and probably won't understand when they can't sleep with you anymore because that's all their used to.

Whatever works for different families.

I slept in the same bed with my mom till I went to school (6-7). And I'm planning on having my daughter with me till the same age. I love the cuddles so much, it's our special time since I have a full time career and also, she's breast fed.

I don't see how it would be a problem for anyone else. And if someone chooses a different route then be it, it's no one's place to judge!

I don't think there's a magic number. I guess when the parents are ready and when the child is ready, which would depend on the individual family, as no two families are exactly alike.
