Interview

I have a job interview tomorrow so I am wondering if I should let them know I am pregnant or not, I really need this job and don't want them to hire me because I'm pregnant.

Do NOT TELL THEM! It's none of their business anyways!!! Good luck

Unless you don't want the job - after an interview, I was asked to come in for an unpaid trial (I was cool with that), but because they were looking for a long-term employee and training would take up to anywhere between 3-6 months I thought I'd best be honest and let them know I was pregnant (I'm a firm believer in Karma and also didn't want to risk anything when it came to physical work), the phonecall ended with, 'Ooh, okay. Congratulations, well I'll have a chat with my coworker and get back to you'. This was the boss and yea, I never heard anything back?

I wouldn't tell them. My last job I didn't tell them till after and the boss made the comment that she wouldn't have hired me if she knew.

I just had this happen to me! I waited to tell them until after I got hired and I told them at orientation they were fine with it!

I don't think u should nor do u have to , cuz they might not hire u based on u needing days off and maternity leave . I would tell once hired and figuring out the schedule

I would wait, but most places have a 60 or 90 day probationary period where you can be fired for any reason. This cannot be argued in court. My guess is if you get your foot in the door and do a good job, it won't matter. I got hired at 9 weeks as a waitress and spilled the beans at 12 weeks. It didn't seem to matter to any of my bosses. Good luck !!!

The general rule is to not tell them until you have an offer. I interviewed and received an offer at 11 weeks and I told them once I had the offer in hand since they then couldn't legally take away the offer. Since it is a corporate job though I knew I could preform it fully during pregnancy but that I'd just need maternity leave. Like PP have said if you would need a lot of special accommodations or not be able to preform the job duties then you may want to bring it up.

If its a physical job then you should definitely let it be known that you are pregnant and as well if there is any contact with chemicals or anything that can negatively affect your pregnancy. If not then I dont see a reason for telling them.

I was wanting to change my jobs when I realised we got pregnant and though I can't get another job when pregnant. I mean. Here there is usually 3 months probation and if u let them know before they can make up a reason to not to give u a permanent contract. Also was worried I would not get paid maternity as I would only have been with the employer for a short time beforehand.

It's news to me that people are looking for new jobs while pregnant... :D

You go ladies! Best of luck and fingers crossed for all of you!

I'm also looking for a new job at the moment, and I've decided that I won't say anything till I get an offer. That way they've already made their decision without my pregnancy being a factor, and then I can ask questions about how maternity leave works. Of course, if it takes much longer I won't have to say anything ?

Don't say a word till after you start working. Some places won't hire you even though that's " illegal".

I started a new job a month and a half ago and havnt told them: also have not decided when I will.

I was in the same predicament and didn't tell them. Some places won't hiring you because of it. And it's easy for them to say it was because of something else if you ever tried to do anything legally because of it. Better not to say anything.

I would wait until you get an offer I would probably tell them then or fairly soon after starting especially if you are close to half way. I got outed with my last pregnancy and it was really awkward for me ?You may not qualify for certain maternity benefits I know my last company it was 6 months of employment my new company is a year so we had to wait, so you also want to make sure you understand what you will get for leave and what not before it's too late. But good luck hope everything works out ????

Don't Tell Them Til Afterwards! Some Companies Will Take That As A Disability & A Reason Not To Hire You , Get Your Foot in The Door First!!

I wouldn't. It's against the law for them to ask you, or use it against you. But usually in interviews I ask do you see yourself needing any Length of time off in the near future to all my applicants that way I know what I need to plan for. As long as it's a job where you won't need any modified duties due to your pregnancy. Unfortunately many employers won't want to take the risk because we are more of a liability i do know someone who got a full time job with benefits at 5 months pregnant tho! Good luck!!

Legally, you don't have to tell them and they cannot ask...

but it's up to you. If you feel that it would affect your job or your ability to do the job, you may want to mention it to make sure that reasonable accommodations can be made for you.

But if the pregnancy won't affect your job, then it shouldn't matter.

I didn't tell my interviewer in my interview because I was still in the first trimester, and hadn't told many people. I start the job next week and will have to eventually start telling people.
