Drinking water before 20 wks u/s??

I've always been told to have a full bladder for mine, but usually they let me get up & pee halfway through lol.

My first u/s was at 10+5 n she actually told me to use the bathroom first , idk now after reading ur ladies post, guess a lil somethin can't hurt lol

I have had two US and they haven't told me to drink water either time. My first was at 9w2d and they had no trouble seeing baby. My last one was at 14w2d and though I did have a full bladder it wasn't because they told me too. One of the ladies that I know from the Dr is about 21w and she used the toilet thirty minutes before her US and didn't drink anything else. I guess our Dr and US tech doesn't require it.

My doc said their machines don't require you to have a full bladder and they will get better pics if your bladder is mostly empty. They had me go pee before my anatomy scan anyway.

They told me that at all my ultrasounds its so ur bladder pushes your uterus up so they can get a better look at him or her they say use the bathroom a hour before ur appt than drink 32 to 40 oz of water. I guess its up to u tho but my Dr wont give me a ultrasound unless I have a completely full bladder. I guess it just depends on the Dr.

I used the bathroom right before my US and the pictures are not as good as when u have a full bladder..

full bladder required only before week 12 after that no need

They may have forgot cuz when i went in they said something about me not having anything in my bladder and they said every little bit helps and that i need to do it for every ultrasound

The best to have full bladder, better contrast. Drink orange juice 1/2 h before. I ate browny. Baby was moving and they took a lot of pics, gender was reviled. I was 16 weeks then. They will let you pee if you uncomfortable

I was told to have a full bladder! Once they got the images they absolutely needed I got to empty my bladder & then they did the rest of the scan!

Oh and I did drink like half a can of soda before as well and she said about hoe active the baby was lol so that definitely works

When I scheduled money they specifically told me to drink 32oz of water an hour before. I would call back and double check. At the ultrasound she said they needed my bladder to be full for when they do the cervix and placenta measurements. I got to pee like halfway thru so we could get better pictures of baby cause she wouldn't flip over

I had my 12 scan and booked it to do early morning 9.00. I normally don't drink water that early so I didn't drink much. They asked me to drink as well. And then we couldn't see our baby properly and tec said that my bladder is not full :( It won't hurt to drink little bit :)

It can't hurt to get really hydrated a few days in advance because it's easier for them to pick up the image when there's more fluid in your system.

Ok perfect, I just didn't want to get there and have them tell me that I should've drunk more before the scan, thanks!!

I don't think you need a full bladder. I did drink a soda beforehand to energize DS so he would be awake and moving around. OJ works well too. G/L :)
