fever in my 2 year old
Just before dinner my 2 year old son started acting sluggish and tired. He kept wanting me to hold him and he kept yawning. It was weird for that time of day for him to act like that. He also did not over exert himself today. We stayed inside today because of rain. We were so bored even I got tired. I then go to feed him dinner and he does not touch a thing. He looked so freaking tired I was a bit shocked. I took him out of his seat and all he wanted to do was lay on me. I felt him and he was hot. Took temp and it was 100.4, which is considered a fever. So I gave him Tylenol, put him in PJ's and read him a book. He asked for his bottle of night time milk. So I gave him a little bit. Then got him to sleep. So my question is, is it anything to be concerned with tonight? Should I check him in the middle of the night? He never had a fever this high before so it's a first for me. What do you guys do?

So I was told by a friend to give Tylenol then 3 hours later Motrin. Helps keep fever down. Said her doctor told her to do that for her kids.

I wouldn't even medicate a fever that low, so I wouldn't alternate meds. That's if it's a really high fever. I'd just let him sleep it off. His body is doing its job and fighting off something.

I'm with Nancy. His fever isn't worryingly high, so it's probably just the start of a cold or other sickness. If the fever gets really high, then alternate medications, but you're really not at that point yet. Let him sleep, check his temp in the morning and decide from there.

I check on my kids regardless of how they feel but his fever is low so I wouldn't be waking him up for more meds, I'd let him rest. Sleep is good for recovering. ❤

Ok good. I was going to say I would only double medicate if his fever got higher. Thanks guys.

Ok so he has had this low grade fever for almost 3 days now. The highest it got last night was 101.2. It keeps going between 99 to 101. I don't get what is going on. So I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow.
