Potty Training Boys!!!
Okay, sorry this is so long, but my ds turned 3 this summer. We started potty training in January. That's 11 months. I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do!!! Most of the time, he will pee in the toilet and not in his pants. He only has pee accidents when he wants attention. But for the life of me, I cannot get him to stop pooping in his underwear!!! I have tried everything. Literally. We have done M&Ms and then upped the reward to marshmallows. We have done sticker charts, let him pick out cool undies, special toys, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, spanking when he just CHOOSES to poop in his pants. I have tried the 3 Day Potty Training method, taking him at timed intervals, making him sit there when I know he has to go. Sometimes he will say he has to go and then use the toilet, but he WILL NOT poop on the toilet if he does not want to. It's really just about a choice now. And when he does poop or pee in his pants, he doesn't even care. He will sit in it and continue playing. I'm so over cleaning out poopy underwear, scrubbing my couch and floors, and trying to get the smell out! UGH! Please help!
How's this for progress....ds pooped in his undies 5 times yesterday!!!!! Augh! He would grunt and we would ask of he needed to poop. While STILL grunting and pushing he would say no. We would rush him to the potty but then he would cry and say he didn't have to poop even though he was JUST going in his pants! He had to clean his own undies. That was kinda funny. He started crying saying he couldn't bc it stinks. EXACTLY! It stinks and is gross!
Yes! Positive reinforcement :) I like it. It sounds like he's ready since he's been going for a while, just not the pooping. That's how my dd was, she chose to go in a pull up or undies even tho she knew it was wrong. But the excitement and anticipation of wanting to know what was all wrapped up was enuf to make her start going :) once she did it once or twice it was no problem after that. Keep us updated on your little guys progress!! Im in the middle of potty training my boy right now too!!!
And I don't like to call it 'bribing'....I prefer to think of it as positive reinforcement! Haha
I did the same with our daughter then I became the mom of two boys...they are totally different! You HAVE to wait til that are ready. I highly recommend the no cry method potty training book. It was a life saver, there is a quiz to see if your kid is even ready. We trained our two boys 2 and 3 in one day with it because they were ready. Before I read that book it took me 6+ mos to train our daughter with tears and tantrums...more mine than hers .;)
'Pooping Presents'! I love it! I like that you have them wrapped up and IN the bathroom where he can see them.
My dd was pee trained for a year b4 she would poop in the potty. Finally one day I just went to the dollar store and bought a ton of little odds n ends toys, wrapped them up in cute paper and set them in a big basket in the bathroom.. She eyed em up for a day asking what they were for. And I just said they are 'pooping presents'... Everytime you poop in the potty you get to open one. She was pooping in the potty the next day and was so thrilled about her reward. I'm usually not a briber, but I was going crazy! And it worked. She never had an accident after, and when the presents were gone, after about 2 wks, she was so proud to be a big girl she didn't care :) that's just what worked for us!! GL!!
My daughter potty trained for just over a year, peed in the potty fine but would poop in her underwear. She started going to preschool for a couple hours a day two days a week and she turned three and it was like she was going all along. She just started using to potty and hasn't had an accident since. I know how frustrating it can be, I tried everything too and I just couldn't get her to do it but when she was ready she did all on her own.
I swear I have the most strong willed child in the world! Haha It's total payback bc I have the same strong will. 😊
I've just potty trained my son his 22 months and we had the same problem but I knew roughly when he needed a poo so Id put him on the toilet until he had been! And really praise him. I think uve just got to keep at it! I stayed indoors for 3 weeks to get him trained. It's hard work
Thanks ladies, I'm just so ready for this to be done. He did so great the first two weeks that I thought he would be an easy one. Then something just clicked off and he has struggled ever since. He doesn't seem to be afraid of the toilet. When he wants to, he will tell me and run and use the potty. But if he is playing or just doesn't want to, he will not. Even if I take him and have him sit on it, if he doesn't want to he won't use it and just starts a tantrum.
I learned with my son is patience. It rough, it's disappointing it's frustrating I know. What my best friend told me that she did with her son, I took the advice and did with my son. This is what we did, put the child on a scheduled potty time. You know your son well... So you choose the 3x's a day you will take him to the toilet to poop. I trained my son to go after every meal, he didn't go all the time but that's when I would take him. Be consistent like all new things it's difficult in the Beginning. And most of all just show him support & patience.
Need some serious tips on potty training! Walker knows when he pees and poops but when i have his diaper off he just pees wherever and then wants his diaper back on 🙃
Just got my one month old to pee AND poop in the potty ☺️ #godiaperfree

I created a potty training group on here I potty trained my now 11 month old in exactly 1 month. No he is no a genius. I was just determined to get him out of diapers. I woke up every 15-30 minutes to put my son on the potty. I Never yelled when he did have a accident. I just put him on his potty and told him that he is a big boy and big boys don't pee or poop in their diapers. I always clapped 👏 my hands when he did pee or poop in his potty . I don't give my son no sort of candy or stickers...
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Y’all how many of your kids that are 4 going on 5 not potty trained I am trying to prove a point to my bf my son will pee in the toilet but not poop in the toilet
I use something called the "Potty box" its just a smaller treasure chest like thing and I fill it with rewards suckers, stickers, small toys Ect.. only time my son can get anything out of it is if he uses Pottt both poo and pee it has seemed to work pretty good for him he is 2 and will be 3 in march he still isn't completely potty trained but getting close good luck...
