odd head shape...

You ladies are very knowledgeable... Ds is 3 months and his head is kinda funny shaped. At his 2 month apt his head was measuring in the 97℅ percentile.. I measured it today and put it in a chart calculator and said he was in the 84 percentile. His head isn't perfectly round either is that normal? Will it even out? I worry too much about everything.

Keep checking to make sure he has his soft spot. A friend of mine has a son whose head grew together at the top and would not expand out (idk how to explain it!) anyway, he has to have surgery on his skull in a few weeks! I will look up the name of it! I'm not trying to scare you, but just make sure to ask your doctor and keep an eye on it!

It can happen during the birthing process for baby's head to become slightly misshapen. Baby's skull is actually in several parts to allow for the head to be born and they later fuse together. It normally corrects itself but perhaps try taking him to a chiropractor if you're still noticing unevenness at this age. My second daughter had an uneven head from her birth and one of her ears was actually further forward than the other if you looked directly down onto her head. The chiropractor really helped.

Tummy time!!!! Keep them off the back of their head as much as you can. Make sure you and anyone else who handles him cradle him in each arm so not just one side of his head is constantly getting more pressure.

I work with infants and we have one baby who's head is just awful, completely flat in the back and towards one side but with a weird bump/ridge right in the middle. We keep him on his tummy as long as he's happy and try to keep his head turned equally in both directions when he's on his back.

If you still feel concerned about it, mention it to the doctor next time. They have helmets that can help fix things at a certain age but when still so young there's plenty of time for it to fix itself (and I hear those helmets are crazy expensive!)

When I was born my dad called me cone head and called all his family freaking out lol it's totally normal though, I was stuck in the birth canal for awhile before my mom had an emergency c section so that's probably why, also lots of baby's get that shape from sleeping on their backs with their heads against the mattress. It'll change, they also have these soft padded helmet looking things my friend used to shape her babies heads. To help you can always put a soft blanket under their head while sleeping just do it when they are napping in a swing or something so you can watch them, I wouldn't recommend it overnight.

My sons was the same way and he was never put down but I noticed when other babies slept they would turn their heads to the sides and he only slept flat on it
