Rave!! 4 days pp and I pumped 5 oz and still have more left. I stopped pumping so there would be some left for the baby. Just wanted to pump some out so my husband could feed her later :)

I pumped the day after I had my 3rd baby. My milk came in n I was so engorged I had no choice. she would have never drunk that much milk that early great way to start a milk stash.

I have never heard of not being able to pump until 6 weeks post partum...... the 2 weeks following all of my births I pump like crazy so I have a good stash started up, and my supply still dropped and didn't confuse to make "more", or affect breast feeding.

Yeah I had already fed her not long ago and then fed her again after. I love this. I'll take extra milk over not enough milk anyday

You just have to know what your doing. I ebf via latch while I was with baby, bottles of pumped milk at daycare, and I pumped while at work. For months I would produce enough to cover daycare AND 20+ ounces a day. I never had more than a sore duct for half a day, and that was one time.

You just have to have a baby, body and schedule/lifestyle that makes it work.

I have 2200 ounces in my deep freeze.

Some advice I wish I'd gotten with my son- pump one side while feeding bay on the other. It's a little tricky at first, I place the shield/bottle and then use my boppy to hold it close (I have a hands free bra as well), and cover the shield with a blanket so I don't scratch baby.

The baby will stimulate a let down and you won't be engorged on one side waiting for the baby to eat again.

That's awesome. My body produces a lot of milk as well.

5oz is a lot though that's like 2-3 feedings.

Pumping right away is fine. I had to in order to have a reserve of milk ready to go for when I went back to work since I was only allowed 6 weeks leave. Good job getting that much so early, it took me forever to get that many oz ?

I am so happy with my supply this time as I lost my supply with my son.

With DD1 they also had me pumping in the hospital as she wouldn't latch right away. But she was fed with a syringe and not a bottle. Both of my DDs weren't fed with a bottle until 5 weeks when they were champs at the breast.

Not true- my doctor had me pump in the hospital on day one. That's why I have milk with this baby and never did with my first.

If you are starting to pump you might have to start a schedule to regulate the milk or you can oversupply and it's no fun. I got so many clogged ducts, they hurt.

Eta: well op has a ds so she knows what she's doin!

Pumping is okay just watch for nipple confusion :) great job momma let baby nurse as much as babe wants and pump after!

I don't think you're supposed to pump until after 6 weeks.
