Breast bump through Kaiser

Yesterday I did my labor and delivery tour at Kaiser. Someone asked about getting a breast pump covered by insurance. The lady said that they loan us one while in the hospital and “IF” there is a medical reason for us needing one after we leave the hospital, they will provide us with one. Is anyone else’s hospital saying the same thing? That really doesn’t make any sense to me ? they’ll only cover a breast pump if we have a medical condition?

I went through the same process as meli^

I find it's best to call your insurance directly. I tried going through several websites that denied me until I actually called my insurance and they gave me the number to pumping essentials

Your insurance company will tell you who you can call to order one. Mine is coming through Edgepark. There are tons of sites you can go through. I tired aeroflow but they only offered me a weird off brand one with terrible reviews.

I called my insurance company and they said to order it through Edgepark. Now I have the Spectra S2 coming.

the ACA I believe made it a requirement that all insurances cover breast pumps. Call insurance and have one delivered to you beforehand.

I’ll use the one at the hospital but use mine at home.

I called my insurance directly and they gave me the number for pumping essentials. I realized while calling that they have a website and just hung up and did it online. All i needed after that was for my ob to write me a prescription for a breast pump and i emailed them a picture and they sent me the breast pump.

I have Aetna insurance and they gave me a link to several vendors and I selected the pump I wanted and then called the vendor to place the order- I just had to provide my insurance information and fax them the doctor prescription my OB gave me for the pump.

The pump is brand new and mine to keep- free of charge

That’s what I was told would happen too! That when you’re getting checked out they give you a number to call and they ship a breast pump to your house within a couple days. I tried getting one through Aeroflow but it said it didn’t take my insurance. So hopefully I can get one through Kaiser ?

I got mines through Kaiser with my last baby but the lactation consultant did all the paperwork for me. Maybe ask there instead. I had one rented out to me while my pump arrived.

I just got a free breast pump through Aeroflow. It was super easy and I didn’t have to bother speaking to my insurance or getting the prescription. I would highly recommend checking them out.
