To be safe a month, because it takes time and that time changes based on your weight, the amount of hormones etc in the pills and how your body takes to it. You should always wait when starting a new birth control. Condoms womt kill anyone in the meantime and will prevent pregnancy.

Condoms for several WEEKS birth control takes time to work into your system. Use protection for a few weeks.

Weeks that's crazy, my dr didn't tell me anything about using any protection much less how long it takes to start working

I suggest being very careful unless you want a baby! I was making the switch from mirena to pill and am now 11 weeks pregnant!
