Solar Eclipse 2017
Is anyone else excited to see the solar eclipse? I can't decide if I want to drive north to see the total eclipse or stay where I am to see 92.5% of the eclipse. I just ordered our safety glasses from Amazon. They are going fast.
Regular sunglasses won't work. Never look directly at the sun. It can cause permanent damage. Please protect your eyes! This article explains it better than I can.

Emmy, that's awesome that you're getting glasses for your class. It is usually a once in a lifetime event to see totality.
I am so excited!! It's my students first day back at school and the eclipse is during dismissal time. ?I'm buying them all viewing glasses anyway. I wish my district would have a half day or change the dismissal. I think this is a huge event for kids! We are only going to get to see a partial eclipse here.
Babi, it's big news here, too. Lots of people are heading into the mountains to get a better view.
I'm due August 27th but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for just a little bit early on the 21st because of the solar eclipse. We are naming him Orion after the constellation so I think it would be perfect.
I also have this weird set of 2s thing where it would fit in. My papa (grandpa) passed away on the 23rd, my mom's (grandma, papa's wife) birthday is on the 25th, my husband's birthday is the 27th (my due date), and his best friend's (our son will have his middle name Cameron) birthday is on the 29th.
@Steph I live in nebraska as well but about 2.5 hours from Omaha. Luckily we live in the total blackout zone, so we don't have to drive anywhere. But I'm jealous that you are going to Beatrice because Bill Nye the Science Guy will be at the Homestead National Monument for the eclipse.
