Emerson? Girl or boy name?

Emerson? Girl or boy name?

My husband and I love the name Emerson for our son. But after I looked it up I saw that is really popular in the US as a girls name. What do you think?

We think we are going to go with Emerson Karl or Emerson Luis. Both middle names are family names.

I think of it automatically as a boys name

I live on Emerson Court so it just makes me think of a street name.

I think it could go either way. But I'd say more if a boy name. I like it! I named my daughter Emery and thought about Emerson but it seemed to boyish for me!

I love it as a girls name, but see it a bit girly for a boys name, however I only think that cuz when I first heard it I thought it was solely a girls name

I guess from the answers it is both. I wanted to name dd emmersyn since I thought syn (sin) sounded more feminine than the son ending. We would have called her Emmy for short .

It is becoming quite popular now.

Girl I think.. It was on our girl list but I don't think it sounds bad for a boy!!

Unisex sounding but my best friend named her daughter Emerson!

We named our daughter that and spelled it the same way. I think it can go either way like Jordan, Taylor, Cameron, etc. If you love it for your boy, go for it. I'm sure there were people who didn't like it for our dd, but it has since grown on them.

In fact, at the dr office they kept referring to her as a boy (the receptionists not the dr, lol!)

Thanks for all the feedback! You are all wonderful! We do still love the name Emerson for our boy. Ralph Waldo Emerson is where we got the name. He wrote so many inspiring essays. I was just surprised to hear it used as a girl's name. And I had never heard the "big titties" comment either! Thanks for the heads up! Now we just need a middle name to go with it!

Emerson sounds more masculine to me, probably because it says 'son' on the end ;)

I first think girl but only because a coworker is using the name for her daughter. If I didn't know her, I'd think boy (:

It's unisex

I like it for both... We are naming our daughter Dalis (dallas) which is a popular boys name but we love it... As long as you guys like it is all that matters... One if my best guy friends in school name is Ashley so i don't think it matters as long as you love it

I would assume boy if I read it. It is one of those names that sounds good for either sex. Don't feel bad, Brynley is usually a boys name nut we used it for our girl.

I only know one Emerson (from my birth month on here) and he's a boy! I haven't heard it as a girls name. I named my son Ryder, and come to find out it's a girls name apparently? I had no idea haha oops! I still love it though :) (maybe I'm biased though since my name is Ryan haha)

Girl names that start with A

Girl names that start with A Hi ladies! What are some of your favorite "A" names for girls? Hub and I decided that we wanted baby girls initials to spell ACT. And we like the middle name Camila but I can't decide on what A names to sound good with it. Please help!
